Fun Rentals leases motorized excitement with four-hour scooter and ScootCoupe rentals, encouraging joy riders to explore beach and street alike in an expedient fuel-efficient cruiser. Like a domesticated velociraptor, the two-seater scooter is small, speedy, easy to park, and lasts all day on one dollar of gas. With a ScootCoupe rental, driver and passenger can sit side-by-side in the stylish three-wheeler as they jet about town at up to 40 miles per hour. The coupes are iPod–ready, allowing tech-toting motorists to roll to the sounds of classic rock or an audio-book biography of Millard Fillmore.

Skimming Florida’s blue water atop rental standup paddleboards inspired the founders of Precision Paddleboards to open their own shop. Hoping to make the sport accessible to everyone, they stock up on retail boards and paddles and also offer their customers rentals and lessons. Their boards come from brands such as Boga and Fanatic, which are each easy to navigate and designed for a range of activities from sightseeing to on-water yoga to tickling Poseidon's back.

Because it specializes exclusively in paddleboards, Precision Paddleboards feels uniquely qualified to address its customers' needs and questions. During lessons along Florida's rivers, canals, and coastal waters staff members instruct proper paddling techniques that paddlers can then test out during group tours.

On the Beach's owners, Ken "The Sun Tan Man" and Captain Tony, provide all the gear needed for a relaxing and adventurous day at the beach. Behind the Royal Vista Resort, the beachside shop rents out maritime toys—Wave Runners, sailboats, kayaks, and boogie boards— to help tourists and locals to soak up sun, skim across waves, and lounge on the sand. The shop’s seasoned mariners—all with at least 25 years of experience—pull from their stores of knowledge and Old Bay seafood rub to devise custom lessons for sailors of any ability. Ken and Tony recognize that some people and all wicked witches might rather gaze at the water than be dampened by it. To cater to this landlubbing demographic, On the Beach rents out bicycles or shaded stays underneath beachside cabanas.

Atlantic Boat and Jet Ski Rentals' owner, Lance Irvine, has turned his passion for fishing, diving, and boating into his profession. Along with his wife, Becky, he equips novice and experienced sailors with yachts, boats, jet skis, and kayaks to explore the scenic Fort Lauderdale waterways that ignited his own love of the sea. Atlantic’s fleet of charter boats ranges from a 17-foot long craft to a 44-foot luxury wave rider, Paradise One, and a 45-foot party boat accommodates up to 45 people with a full bar and stereo system perfect for playing sea shanties at top volume. Self-propelled single or tandem kayaks let their riders explore the world without breathing in noxious fumes, similar to surfing the Internet in a sterile room.

Former wakeboarding champion Dean Lavelle and USA Waterski–certified instructor and boat driver Bobby Pine co-own LTS and coach students on slicing through wakes and having fun with water-based sports. The scenic shores and ebbing freshwater terrain of Crystal Lake provide an ideal arena for lessons in Dean and Bobby’s specialties that include beginner and slalom waterskiing, wakeboarding, barefoot skiing, kneeboarding, and extreme tubing. Dean and Bobby conduct each class with progressive teaching styles custom-suited to each student's learning method and based on the lake's current population of inflatable sharks. In the summer, their kid's camp gets children ages 5 and up conquering watery obstacles in groups of up to six with kid-friendly instruction.

Every day for the past 20 years, the team of adventurers at Island Camps has heard the call of the ocean's cresting waves. They've answered with a full slate of surfing and standup paddleboarding lessons and day camps geared toward beginners who might be hearing that call for the first time. Certified in first aid and lifeguard ocean rescue, they help students feel safe while instilling in them the skills needed to explore the wild blue yonder.

Since paddleboarding is easy to pick up, the team regularly leads newcomers on tours of the intercoastal waterways and Deerfield Island Park. During sunset and ecology tours, groups dip their paddles into cool waters while slipping past mangroves, wetland marshes, and the cave of the local sea lord. If you're looking for a more grounded experience, Island Camps also offers skateboarding lessons that teach basic skills and tricks such as the ollie.
