If Man O' War Golf Learning Center racks up any additional awards, Golf Digest might run out of space—the magazine has already named Man O' War a favorite public range in Lexington, and instructors Brad Bachand and Tennye Ohr have earned spots on their list of Best Teachers in Kentucky in 2009, 2011, and 2013. Along with a staff of other top PGA professionals and instructors, they lead private lessons, clinics, and golf fitness sessions for players of all ages. They also specialize in additional services that help enhance performance, including video swing analysis and custom club fitting.

Weissinger Hills Golf Course’s 18-hole layout bounds across 6,526 yards of rolling countryside to form a player-friendly par 72. The course’s narrow fairways encircle a quaint, hilltop clubhouse, from which players can plot a pin-hunting expedition that will bring them into contact with treacherous bunkers, water hazards on five holes, and thoroughbreds intent on outsprinting every golf cart and outsmarting every caddy. A stint at the driving range rattles the rust off of swings, ensuring clubbers won’t be ambushed by the demanding second hole, where an uphill fairway and a green hidden behind four water hazards coalesce to form the course's hardest-rated hole. PGA-certified pro Bryan Slone roams the grounds, divulging golf wisdom in various lesson packages. The club’s facilities include a fully stocked pro shop and a snack bar with cool drinks, light fare, and a sand trap full of incriminating scorecards.

Pedal Power Bike Shop’s friendly technicians incorporate techniques developed by the Serotta International Cycling Institute during professional bike fittings to customize cycles to each rider’s desires and capabilities. Tailored to two-wheelers of all brands, styles, and types, personalized two- to three-hour fittings begin with an interview covering the customer’s lifestyle and needs, such as any preexisting aches, daily routes, or dreams of jumping over the Adirondacks. Then, a physical assessment yields basic measurements and tests flexibility, priming patrons for a pedaling session atop an indoor trainer that allows the technician to determine the rider’s general position in real time. Drawing on the info they’ve gleaned, fitters will then make custom adjustments to client's bikes to help ensure a comfortable and efficient ride. Ideal for fostering one-of-a-kind comfort, bike fittings may also aid riders in avoiding strain and injury from repetitive use or from using the bike as a bed.
Clear Creek Golf Center spreads out a sprawling kingdom of flag-bedecked holes dotted across 1,700 yards of outstretched fairway and greens. Calibrated to challenge golfers of all stripes, the nine-hole course unfolds with a mix of six par 3 and three par 4 holes. Like three-legged races or bomb diffusing, the course is best explored in groups of two, as pairs of partners traverse the 2-mile scenic walk on their way from pin to pin. Before striding up to neatly packaged tee boxes, save swings from lurking slumps and warm up with a large bucket of balls, spraying shots across 285 yards of designated driving range. An artificial driving area, fairway sand bunker, and seven different target greens provide comfortable teeing areas, and a chipping-and-putting green keeps short games from developing a Napoleon complex and attempting to annex the clubhouse.
