As instructors, choreographers, and award-winning competitors, Premier Dance Academy directors Ashley Velosky and Rachel Newton have approached performance from every side of the spotlight. Today, they share their expertise on the floating floors of two studios, crafting new rhythms with students who range from 2 year olds to seniors. Though they haven't lost their flair for competition—their company team participates in contests at the regional and national level—they host a broad curriculum of classes for curious and casual guests.
These lessons span centuries' worth of dance styles, encompassing the graceful leaps of ballet, the gravity-flouting tricks of break dancing, and the bold keyboard strokes of blog-hop. They also embrace creative fusions of technique: acro sessions weave acrobatics into classical steps, and lyrical classes blend ballet, modern, and jazz movements that respond to expressive soundtracks.
For more than two decades, Paxton Sports Centre has encouraged healthy living with its large tennis, swimming, and fitness facilities. During warm months, six outdoor red clay courts beckon competitive tennis athletes, and four indoor courts accommodate year-round play. The indoor pool allows swimmers to hone their butterfly stroke, and the outdoor pool allows butterflies to emulate humans by doing cannonballs. The complex’s fitness facility bolsters muscle mass with free weights, Keiser fitness machines, and spin bikes.

A veritable Johnny Appleseed of golf, the passionate pedagogue roams about courses and teaching centers throughout the greater Worcester area, spreading golf wisdom and burying dimpled orbs that soon blossom into VHS copies of The Legend of Bagger Vance. Clients can catch Jim refining pupils' motions or remedying trust issues between clubs and their owner at the indoor golf simulator of XGolf of New England, where he hibernates during the off-season chill.
