After traipsing deep into Fresno Regional Sports Complex, warriors breach the perimeter of Maximum Paintball, an expansive enclave spread throughout several obstacle-infested outdoor fields. Concrete blocks, wooden horses, and metal barrels populate Field1, and regulation barricades such as pyramids, cylinders, and Paul Bunyan's beanbags wait to be splattered with neon paint in other nooks. Maximum Paintball hosts traditional paintball games and some with slight variations, all overseen by referees unafraid to eject people for unsportsmanlike conduct. An observation area with awnings and picnic tables protects onlookers from stray pellets, and a supply store stays open seven days a week to equip sharpshooters with necessary accouterments.
Every Saturday and Sunday, Air Warriors Paintball opens its four outdoor playing fields to the public for simulated combat. Three of the four battlegrounds play host to adrenaline-fueled matches that pit players against each other in scenario games. Obstacles include tire mounds, corrugated metal, and dugout trenches. The facility also features an inflatable-packed speedball arena that’s perfect for fast-paced games. Much like a college student who has trouble scrounging up quarters, Air Warrior’s speedball field changes once a week.
Run by friendly staffers with 10 years of industry experience, Red TAAG Paintball 4 U gathers marksmen for rounds of play at its indoor and outdoor facility. Gear experts stock the on-site armory with weapons, paintballs, CO2, and compressed air, outfitting players with rentals before dispatching them to the battleground. Speckling the territory, obstacles such as cars, walls, fences, and sinkholes into alternate dimensions add variety to each round of scenario or tactical play. Referees and sentient clouds keep careful watch throughout each session, ensuring fair play and safety.
Wooden walls, empty metal drums, and concrete pipes form barricades against spheres of gelatin and colored soap zooming through the air. This is Gladiator Paintball Park, a sprawling haven for paintball enthusiasts. Here, players hide behind various objects in the field, dodging multihued "bullets" as they engage in games such as Capture the Flag and Don't Ruin My New White Shirt. Guests can also bring in Airsoft toy guns for supervised battles against one another.
Bunkers, barriers, and trailers speckle The Paintball Zone’s five themed playing fields, serving as venues for sneaking or sniping. On Saturdays or the last Sunday of each month, players disperse throughout the arenas, marking opponents with random paint splatters or impressionist haystacks. The outdoor facility includes a covered staging area for protection against the sun and rain. The Paintball Zone sells paint and rents markers, ammo, gear, and compressed air tanks and recommends players wear a long-sleeve shirt and shoes that provide good ankle support.
The locations that comprise Paintball Tickets challenge hue-happy gamers to a range of combative revelry fought with air-powered paintbrushes. During games, referees maintain a fun and lighthearted wartime experience while competitors engage in capture-the-flag style strategy. As players navigate the terrain on a quest to invade the other team's territory and avoid epidemics of trenchfoot, they covertly scope opponents and peg them with bright-colored pellets to dull their chance at victory.
