Grand Master Yeon Hwan Park draws from experience gained while earning a ninth-degree black belt as he focuses students’ bodies and minds. At YH Park Taekwondo, he and a skilled team train pupils from beginner to black belt in the art of tae kwon do, a Korean martial art that teaches the duality of inner harmony and physical defense using fluid movements of the fists and foot fists.
Grand Master Park learned his skills in his native Korea, where he became the undefeated national tae kwon do champion from 1971 to 1975. He also served as vice president of the United States Taekwondo Union and coach of the U.S. Olympic and Pan American team. In addition to his practical mastery of the sport, Park has published 12 books on its theory, including Tae Kwon Do: My Life and Philosophy and Tae Kwon Don’t, How to Avoid Conquering the World.

Dr. Robert J. Mittman and Allergy, Asthma, & Sinus Care’s experienced ear, nose, and throat specialists inoculate patients against influenza with safe flu vaccines. In the 10-minute appointment, patients relax as technicians quickly and efficiently deliver the shot, which will fend off cold-weather illnesses and turn the purest of heart into Captain America. This season’s flu shot, which contains killed flu viruses, guards against both the seasonal flu and the 2009 H1N1 virus. Some patients may experience mild side effects such as soreness, swelling, or redness, which usually disappear within one to two days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that people 6 months of age or older receive a flu shot.

Along with fellow tooth enthusiasts Dr. Lorraine Sirgany and Dr. Erin Thomas, Dr. Jeffrey M. Schwartz keeps smiles healthy, clean, and happy with regular checkups and polishings. An appointment begins with a gentle inspection, in which the dentist examines the mouth for tartar, gum disease, and forgotten passwords. Then, bitewing x-rays peek between the teeth and behind the enamel, where cavities sometimes lurk. The service concludes with a thorough cleaning to evict plaque and make pearly whites glow with pride. Like lunar eclipses, preventive visits last about an hour and can be scheduled for daytime, evenings, or weekends.
