Within Interskate Roller Rink's 80'x180' maple rotunda rink, skaters and bladers glide among fellow freewheelers. Overhead, a celestial array of 760 glistening track lights glow. Visitors might momentarily hear the smooth sound of wheels on wood, but it's soon drowned out by a 14-speaker jukebox which, much like the world's most exquisite tinkling jewelry box, can play more than 3,000 songs.
While many saw the 11-mile-per-hour winds that whipped across Lake Lewisville as an annoyance, Captain Mike saw them as the perfect fuel for a perpetual party. With the wind at his back, he pilots the Chamonix II, a 70-foot catamaran equipped for on-the-water events with a heated cabin, catered buffets, and plush couches lining the front deck. He plies the water daily, taking his passengers on corporate getaways, mobile wedding receptions, or private parties across the sunny waters. And as night sets in, he escorts intimate groups on quiet sunset dinner cruises. He invites dinner guests to bring their favorite alcoholic beverages to enjoy while they dine on catered Italian fair, chip golf balls off the deck at targets in the water, or make spooky faces with flashlights under the light of the moon.
As a young Marine, master distiller Quentin D. Witherspoon embarked on a whirlwind tour of the world. In France, he became fascinated by wine-making. In Africa, he and his fellow Marines struggled to find potable water, let alone anything stronger. It was there that Quentin decided to try his hand at distilling, and his passion for making spirits was born. After years of moonshining in the Carolinas, he eventually returned to Texas where he decided to go legit and put down roots. Working with homemade equipment and plenty of passion, Quentin produces a variety of spirits. From his award winning River Rum to the silky smooth Texas Straight Bourbon, each of Quentin?s spirits echoes the heart that he puts into each bottle.
Guests at Cher Ewing's monthly PinTwist Parties do a lot of making. They make canvas art, they make wine bottle crafts, they make fashionable T-shirts, and they make one-of-a-kind jewelry. Most importantly, they make plenty of memories. Anyone is welcome at the Tuesday meet-ups, where Cher and company lead a group class on a project from their Pinterest board. Besides the public events, the company can bring their parties and supplies to a private birthday celebration, girl's night out, or bonding retreat, allowing the host to skip her traditional duties and just nap under the bed with the cat.
