A former University of Kentucky Dance Cat with more than 20 years of teaching experience, Traci Stone works to expand the dance community through recreational and competitive adult and youth classes. Whether putting together a fun routine or just allowing wee ones to wiggle out a chronic case of sillies, Traci’s team targets children’s imaginations with colorful costumes and annual performance exhibitions. For those who’ve long since traded their baby teeth for an investment portfolio, adult classes explore the basic techniques of ballet, tap, and belly dancing. Pointed toes and swaying stomachs take to the hardwood floor as natural light spills across Artistry in Motion's expansive studio, making bare and tap-clad feet dance more happily.
As a busy student at the University of Kentucky, Bo Hornback needed a quick and effective workout that he could squeeze into his demanding schedule of classes. That was how he discovered CrossFit—an innovative fitness program that involves an ever-changing tapestry of high-intensity workouts consisting of functional movements. Hornback became so enamored with the exercise form, he went on to pursue a CrossFit instructor certification. Today, he's a coach at CrossFit Maximus.
With two locations in Lexington, a 9,800-square-foot facility on Palumbo Drive and a new 7,000-square-foot facility at National and North Ashland Avenues, CrossFit Maximus boasts onsite massage centers, a childcare center (not available at the National Avenue location), CrossFit classes, boot camps, kids' fitness courses, and nutrition classes. During sessions, they draw from the gym’s arsenal of functional strength-training equipment, including free weights, medicine balls, and slack lines. Through group training and support, the team strives to create a communal atmosphere where everyone knows your name and a supportive space where everyone refrains from menacingly whispering it in unison.
We offer Health and Wellness Training Classes to individuals of all levels of fitness from beginner to the more advanced. Each class is similar to a group personal training session. Each class includes an extensive warm-up, followed by strength training, and then a conditioning session for maximum results in minimal time.
Originally founded by a group that includes retired pro boxer Danny Campbell, Title Boxing Club offers total-body workouts that blend boxing, kickboxing, and fitness. After donning tape and gloves, students can greet a 100-pound heavy bag with a barrage of kicks, jabs, crosses, hooks, and unkind words. Each of the club's trainers focuses on a different area, such as technicality, core and balance, or moderate- to high-intensity training. Other equipment around the facility includes a boxing ring, speed bags, and double-end bags, as well as free weights and cardiovascular machines.
