Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?

Our facility is on located on Maple Woods Community College campus, and we offer an educated staff that can help a person work on their individual fitness goals at their level. Our goal is to help everyone feel comfortable joining our facility. We offer individual exercise programs, personal training, nutrition counseling, and a variety of free group classes that people of any fitness level can attend.

What is the biggest mistake you see people make when trying to get fit on their own?

The biggest mistake I think people make is they don't have a plan. They would like to get into shape, better their health, and lose weight, but they don't have a plan. Most people have great intentions and know what to do but may need additional help and guidance to help reach their goals.

When and how did you first develop a passion for fitness?

The staff at Maple Woods Fitness Center believe in overall health?not just what someone looks like on the outside. A healthy body is a strong and fit body. We focus on your fitness goals but also recognize that a health is very important that is why we focus on nutrition as well as provide a well rounded exercise program to help meet your goals. Our full time instructors have bachelors degrees in fitness and wellness, and both have certifications in exercise nutrition.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

The Maple Woods Fitness facility is predominately used by the public as well as MCC students and offers a variety of memberships. We are located on the second floor of the Northland Human Service Building and are surrounded by windows so you never feel like you are working out in a dungeon. To tour our facility, simply stop by during our hours of operation and we will be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

Mandy Morris has never enjoyed staying put. For more than 14 years, she dedicated her life to dancing and acting, performing in venues from New York to Los Angeles, as well as on cruise ships. She returned to Kansas City with a global cornucopia of experience in jazz, hip-hop, salsa, and calypso. By founding Studio Moves, Mandy and her fellow instructors gave themselves a way to both share their passion for dance and help students of all skill and fitness levels discover new ways to work out.

The schedule of eclectic classes reflects Mandy's own passion for all things dance. Ballet fitness combines classical ballet exercises, yoga stretches, and cardio dance to develop the grace, power, and sculpted muscle tone associated with professional dancers. Zumba speeds up the pace with a cardio-intensive regimen of simple-to-follow choreography set to upbeat, Latin-inspired melodies. The studio also dispels pent-up stress with meditation, calm stretches, and a complete absence of hawk screeches during zen sessions.

Bollywood Groove KC, LLC founder Shyamly Jaiswal is a certified yoga instructor, but her real achievement isn't in simply mastering those fitness routines, it's in putting her own spin on them. Jaiswal has found a way to work modern and traditional forms of Indian dance into the workouts at her studio, creating classes that not only burn calories and tone muscles, but also spread the infectious energy that is the trademark of Bollywood musicals.

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?

Each month we run a challenge to keep clients coming in, such as coming to class 25 times in one month to earn a free T-shirt. We change each class, so if you go to a specific class more than once that week, it will be different. Also, we have a variety of classes, so if our clients don't like one style, there are many more from which to choose.

Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?

Free monthly measurements occur every month to show improvements and body change. We also offer help with nutrition guidance.

Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?

We call ourselves a fitness boutique. We offer a variety of classes with fun, energetic, and motivational instructors that keep clients having fun and laughing while sweating and burning calories all in one awesome hour.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

Sweat studio comes with a warning label: it becomes an addiction. We have a very welcoming environment and offer a variety of classes suitable for both beginning and advanced students.

The crew at G.R.I.T.T. Fitness LLC welcomes people from all backgrounds and walks of life to come train at its gym.
