The slate-blue walls in the studio of Massage by Peggy recall the tranquility of the ocean, which helps to ease clients into a state of relaxation. Aromatherapy scents permeate the candlelit room, while a heated table helps clients unwind better than riding a merry-go-round backwards. Refractive surgeon Dr. Hasan Hakim doesn’t just perform LASIK surgery—he was involved in the FDA trials of the excimer laser used in LASIK during his time at the University of Kansas. In the years since, he has kept abreast of cutting-edge developments in vision restoration, from the evolution of LASIK and PRK surgeries to the replacement of eyes with miniature owls. With 5,000 vision-correction procedures already under his belt, Dr. Hakim continues to tend to peepers with deft hands and state-of-the-art technology, performing both incision and laser procedures to bring the world back into focus for those struggling to read street signs or tea leaves. A full stock of Acuvue contacts and frames by Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein helps Dr. Hakim perform more conventional vision enhancements.
Voted Small Business of the Year in 2009 by Amherstburg's Chamber of Commerce, Amherstburg Vision Centre boasts more than 1,000 pairs of eyeglass frames and sunglasses in their showroom. Let a sight-sharpening member of the optometric team bring distant acorns or macro-squirrels into dazzling focus with stylish specs from such designer brands as Adidas, Ray-Ban ($135+), Coach, Dolce & Gabanna, and Suntrends ($135+). With many additional items priced from $50–$120, frugal eyeballs are also granted the chance to find their vision-correcting soul mate. For those whose ocular jelly requires no refinement, a host of sunglasses, such as polarized FishGillz sunglasses ($55+), and sports sun wear eagerly awaits to perch on noses and nuzzle up beside ear lobes ($55+).
Helmed by Dr. David Bridgeo—a specialist in skincare and anti-aging medicine—the team at Eclipse Cosmetic and Laser Centre helps clients fend off the marks of time with nonsurgical treatments. These services range from Botox injections that smooth over fine lines and wrinkles to IPL laser therapy that can diminish sun damage, spider veins, and rare but deadly scorpion veins. To enhance treatment results, Dr. Bridgeo and his staff keep products on hand for at-home skincare, stocking brands such as Vivier Pharma.
SVS Vision Center’s founders opened their first shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan, in 1974 to help the community clear up its vision. But even these optical gurus never foresaw their humble business expanding to more than 50 locations sprawled across 10 states. Today, each shop continues the tradition of ensuring ocular health and crystalline sight, beginning with exams from seasoned optometrists. Afterward, patients head to the optical dispensary, where they try on frames by Coach, Tiffany, Nike, Versace, or Ray-Ban. The staff then fits the stylish selection with polarized and scratch-protected prescription lenses to help guests read books clearly or see a charging moose from a distance. Most of SVS Vision Center’s frames can also hold sunglass lenses as well, eliminating squinting during summer months and tropical vacations.

We do have coffee and tea available by request, along with magazines in the waiting area. Consultations are free of charge.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I'm passionate about health and beauty and that led me to become a medical aesthetician. I focus on skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal, and tattoo removal. I like helping people feel better about themselves and I feel as an aesthetician I can pay it forward in that fashion by helping others look and feel better.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
I'm a huge fan of vintage everything. My theme and ads mostly revolve around pinups, pop art, and Victorian style. That's pure beauty to me and I think every woman wants to feel like a classic old Hollywood movie star! (Men too!)
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I became a certified medical aesthetician at the National Laser Institute in Scottsdale AZ, and graduated at the top of my class. It's the most respected school for my field of work. My results with clients are impeccable and effective. Feel free to go to my yelp page and see my reviews
