When the Bluejays take the court, you can expect to see a sea of bright blue shirts at the Sam & Louie's at the corner of 24th and Cuming in Omaha. The location has been one of Creighton University's homes away from home since it opened in 1994, but its welcoming atmosphere is found at each of the eatery's 24 locations. There, friends and families bond over great conversation and an eclectic mix of casual cuisine from a menu inspired by traditional New York–style pizzerias. Eighteen specialty pizzas are hand tossed into thin-crust pies before being decorated with more than 35 toppings such as creamy alfredo sauce, sliced Italian meatballs, and canadian bacon. In deference to those with special dietary needs, almost all of these specialty pizzas are available in gluten-free pizzas.
In addition to pizzas, cooks also craft their daily-made dough into calzones and strombolis, which ooze with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. The menu culminates in five third-pound Black Angus burgers, Italian hoagies, and eight types of pastas. In addition to hosting guests inside their welcoming pizzerias for both lunch and dinner, the cooks at Sam and Louie's also take their food on the road, offering catering services for events both large and not-so-large.

While teaching jazz dance in the 1960s, Judi Sheppard Missett decided to step away from tradition by offering an experimental class that allowed her students to simply dance without the judgment of mirrors or the constraints of rigid technique. In these sessions, she began infusing popular dance moves with specific fitness workouts to forge a distinctive blend of cardio exercise, strength training, and dance instruction. Little did she know that this “just for fun” class was the prototype for what would become the national fitness sensation known as Jazzercise.
Today, Jazzercise takes its aerobic techniques from a variety of sources that include jazz dance, hip-hop, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, and kickboxing. The class formats, which vary according to different toning goals, are just as diverse as the program's move set. Two-time Dancing with the Stars champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of the improvisational routines, although her advanced skills aren't needed to get the most out of classes. Instructors cultivate a noncompetitive atmosphere where all exercisers—with the exception of those marked as cursed by jazz-hand palm readers—are welcome regardless of age, build, or fitness background.
Feather boas skirt Spa De Da's windows, and kiss-mark-shaped wall decals share space with tan sofas. The flirty, pop-art decor showcases coowner and aesthetician Amanda Banghart's ebullient personality but belies her serious beauty chops. A bachelor of biology from Wayne State College augments her aesthetician's understanding of skin chemistry. Amanda complements her formal and experiential education with professional certifications from Image and Bioelements, from which she learned to design effective skincare regimes with their products.
Drawing on this wealth of knowledge, Banghart analyzes each client's complexion to discover the source of and appropriate treatment for blemishes, early signs of aging, or the slow metamorphosis into a young Benjamin Button. Cosmetics for special occasions also inspired her avid scholarship of beauty.

The staff at Alternative Tan Spa respects all aspects of individuality, from your personal skin type to your musical tastes. They dole out tips for tanning schedules and products that will suit each client, ever mindful of safety precautions for different dermal needs. Inside the spa rooms, clients can load a favorite CD into the stereo before visiting their chosen booth or bed, basking afterward in the breezes from private cooling systems and primping at available vanity areas.
The spa's tanning equipment ranges from Level 1 Tan America beds to standup spray-tanning booths, which take less than one minute to coat bodies in a coppery sheen that can last up to 10 days. As beds increase in level, their amenities become more advanced: Level 3 Starflight beds feature facial lamps, and Level 4 Cayenne and S-Class beds refresh physiques with built-in misting systems. The open Sunboard bed bronzes skin without enclosing customers beneath a lid, finally enabling them to high-five their own feet when they achieve even coverage.
