After Pat and Tom Heineman saw neighboring farmers get in on the winemaking game, they shared their excitement with their friends, Carol and Rich Howell. The foursome then decided to try their hand at the art together. Several UC Davis classes later, their friendship became a partnership and Bent Creek Winery was born. In 2010 alone, Bent Creek won almost 20 awards, and its cabernet sauvignon received the double gold award as recently as 2014. They’ll send wine right to your doorstep. The winery’s First Call Club allows members to purchase winemaker-selected bottles for shipment and receive first choice of newly released wines, invitations to special events, and discounts on tastings and wine. You can taste before you buy. The selection is priced from $17–$29 per bottle, and knowledgeable staffers are on hand to help with tough choices during sessions in the tasting room.
