Like an enchanted glacial tunnel, The Salt Cavern’s sparkling white walls pulse with gauzy pinks and purples, as crystalline lanterns illuminate powdery tufts of salt covering the floor. But this fairy-tale ambiance belies the cavern’s meticulously calibrated atmosphere: highly concentrated saline aerosol regularly circulates throughout the chamber in an effort to soothe health ailments such as asthma, allergies, or psoriasis.

Owners William and Eva boast backgrounds in the medical industry, but grew disillusioned with chemical therapies after investigating the benefits of salt therapy, a practice that originated in Poland nearly 200 years ago. Now the duo invites clients to experience salt’s therapeutic and calming benefits in their softly lit chamber. In addition to the salt’s calming vapors, William and Eva offer deepened relaxation with yoga sessions) in the cave, and enforce a tranquil atmosphere in which clients can nap, meditate, or quietly impersonate the Morton’s Salt girl.

Within the salt caves at Respira Salt Wellness Center are three salt rooms: one for children, and two for adults. In the children’s room, kids up to 10 years old play with toys like they're at a beach made of salt. Parents observe as children take in the salt-infused air, helping mitigate sinus inflammation, congestion, and allergies. In the adult rooms, clients sit back on recliners, listen to music, and relax as a dry mist of rich salt minerals helps clear the airways. In addition to salt therapy sessions, the center also offers other restorative services inside the salt rooms, including Swedish, deep tissue, and Thai massages, reiki treatments, and guided meditation. Their private yoga sessions combine slow stretches and deep breaths with modified poses such as downward-facing sugar cube. Respira Salt Wellness Center also sells Himalayan salt lamps and Dead Sea skin care products.

Do you use any products or brands you're particularly proud of? What makes them uniquely effective?
Yes, Yon-Ka Paris because the company concentrates on research and development rather than marketing. They only use high-quality herbal and plant extracts. They are paraben-free and very gentle on the skin.

What's the most common beauty mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?
Using soap on their skin and using a harsh scrub. They should consult a professional aesthetician like myself first before using any kind of skincare program.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
The clients will instantly feel relaxed as they enter the spa [with its] array of aromas and calming decor.

First recognized by a Polish doctor who found that patients who mined salt in caves had healthier skin and improved breathing, Halo Air Salt Rooms provides the health benefits of the same saline atmosphere found in salt caves. Ukrainian salt from the very mines where the treatment originated coats the walls and carpets the floors of the salt rooms at Halo, perfectly replicating the underground environment right down to the relaxing chairs and plasma TVs that salt miners commonly use to watch reruns of The Wonder Years. Once you've settled in, the Halogenerator begins its therapeutic work, grinding the salt and filling the atmosphere with dry salt aerosols. As you inhale these particles, their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties go to work on your respiratory system, soothing inflammation, clearing breathing passageways, and reducing mucus, but almost never turning your face into solid brass. Halo provides links to articles and research about halotherapy. And while additional studies are under way, testimonials indicate that the health benefits extend to the skin, mental wellness, energy levels, and general well-being, as well as the respiratory system.
