Lisa Rowe Glickoff's more than 20-year career is just as diverse as the pictures of fantasy, special effects, and beauty makeup in her portfolio. When she is not busy prepping faces for fashion, film, and high-profile events? such as dolling up celebs for the 2006 Academy Awards? the makeup-industry veteran spends time on the product side of the industry. In addition to serving as a beauty rep for brands such as Paula Dorf Cosmetics, she also has created Astute, her own line of makeup. But even with all of these accomplishments, the one that?s closest to her heart remains the founding of Astute Artistry, her makeup-training boutique and beauty studio. From within the 8,000 square foot space?decorated with modern Paris-themed decor?she teaches aspiring make-up artists how to create Hollywood-approved special effects and beauty makeup during hands-on classes that range from beginner level to advanced professional.
When not teaching others the tricks of the beauty trade, Lisa puts her aesthetician license and chic boutique to use by shaping brows with threading, enhancing eyes with lash extensions, and rejuvenating mature, teen, and dehydrated skin during facials. Lisa and her team also provide traditional makeup applications for brides and those attending special events.
Lisa is also committed to helping those in need, which is why she founded Astute Artistry II, a nonprofit makeup studio catering to women affected by skin and hair conditions, which was featured in Hour Detroit magazine.
With two locations and a slate of the latest hair, skin, and waxing treatments, Glory Salon is keeping things chic in both Farmington and Livonia. Stylists combine their skills with products from Purity Design and Aquage to create updos with staying power, correct botched at-home color jobs, and smooth frizz. When they're not styling or coloring hair, the staff is likely to be found removing it from the brows, bikini area, and anywhere in-between, or fawning over complexions with cleansing and rejuvenating facials. Options include everything from microdermabrasion and oxygen-rich treatments to basic European facials, which are just like American facials, but without the mask made from eagles' tears.

Traditional red, white, and blue barber stripes accent each of Carson Coonce's three barber shops—from the old wooden sign outside the original 1955 Plymouth shop, to the scissor-shaped awning at the Livonia location—and the interior echoes the same classic barbershop feel. Amid a casual atmosphere, a friendly staff made up of Carson's children and grandchildren and unrelated, yet equally talented, barbers provides clients with a menu of affordable services that range from men's beard trims and hot shaves to haircuts for men, women, and children.
With big-screen TVs, cushy leather chairs, and foosball and domed hockey games adding a sports-themed touch, Scores Haircuts For Men is a popular chain of men's hair salons with four locations.
