Delaware Speedway unleashes a feast for the eyes and ears in the form of zooming stock cars and roaring engines around its half-mile oval track, pitting visitors face-to-face with the action in its unique amphitheatre-style seating. The speedway’s history stretches back 60 years to misty memories of the 1950s, when rock 'n' roll blared from radios and stock cars sported glistening, motor-oiled pompadours. Today, families gather on the grassy lawn or in the stands, cheering on stock car championships, Junior Racing League cups, and truck races as chariots fly into a colourful blur before their eyes. As they take in the stimulating sights and sounds of a day at the races, they fuel up with pizza, burgers, and hot dogs at the concession stand or refresh themselves with a frosty beer at the beer patio.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the unassuming facade of Bowlerama Royale melts away as cosmic lights slice across lanes and a virtual DJ mixes beats. Cosmic bowling lasts from 9 p.m. until close, and often serves as the backbone of birthday or corporate parties fueled by on-site catering and flasks of milk snuck in by the boss. Bowlers can also extend their craving for competition by joining leagues. In between frames and tries for turkeys, patrons can head to the lounge, where dartboards, pool tables, arcade games, and an 8-foot TV screen await additional bouts of friendly competition. Beer, wine, and spirits flow freely at the bar and snack bar, alongside savoury appetizers and casual fare.

Humes Horse and Carriage Rides furnishes parades, weddings, and seasonal sightseers with powerful teams of horses that haul carriages along celebratory jaunts. In the autumn, the horses follow a creek through the multihued foliage to a clearing, where passengers can disembark to roast hot dogs and marshmallows over a bonfire. When snow blankets the ground during the winter months, the team swaps its carriage out for a sleigh and makes tracks for a wooded gully, where children can pull each other on a sled while they dream of one day becoming a professional clydesdale.

At Rainbow Cinemas & Magic Lantern Theatres, darkened auditoriums with flickering screens draw audiences into magical worlds where fish can talk, motorcycles leap canyons, and love comes even for those who eat crackers in bed. The auditoriums show recent blockbusters at 16 multiplex theatres that spread across Canada, each of which retains its own unique personality and honours any historic roots. In Edmonton, the Princess Theatre’s original 1915 auditorium, complete with balcony, golden drapes, and red walls, accommodates moviegoers with babies or pet hyenas inside a soundproof cry room. In Saskatchewan, the circa-1930 Roxy Theatre preserves the ambience of a Spanish courtyard. As guests find their auditorium at the Rainbow Cinemas Ontario locations, they can admire giant murals by local artist Fred Harrison.

A child explores a cave's rock formations, stumbling upon drawings left by humans eons ago. Not far away, another child unearths something millions of years older?dinosaur fossils. For more than three decades, the London Children's Museum has stimulated imaginations through such interactive exhibits, helping children learn through play instead of fact memorization or encyclopedia ingestion. Stretched across three floors, nine permanent exhibits couple with travelling displays to explore everything from jellyfish to space exploration and 1880s schoolhouses. To extend this educational and recreational reach, the museum offers field trips, educational programs, and premium special events for preschoolers through 12-year-olds. They also offer memberships for frequent visitors, which come with benefits such as discounted pricing for birthday parties and day camps.
