All instructors at Cosmic Kites Kiteboarding boast certifications from either the International Kiteboarding Organization or Professional Air Sports Association, and instill others with the knowledge they've gained during land- and water-based kiteboarding lessons. During land classes, students launch trainer kites, while water-based lessons allow pupils to skip wakes and mow overgrown seaweed while learning fundamentals. For more advanced or specialized instruction, the staff also teaches participants how to perform special maneuvers, tricks, and jumps on water. Additionally, the staff can introduce clients to a range of complete kitesurfing packages, as well as new or used boards and kites, and boots and wetsuits.
Helming additional locations in North Carolina and the Dominican Republic, Cosmic Kites currently sponsors two Dominican riders in their global quest on the World Kitesurfing Tour. When not supervising adrenaline-soaked adventures, Cosmic Kites maintains existing kiteboarding locations, works to open new ones, supports youth sporting events, and develops new ideas for boarding safety that aren't as costly as installing inflatable beaches.
Shattering preordained concepts of resale boutiques, Salvage Chic refreshes the art of attire resuscitation by draping its displays in clean, contemporary new and slightly used duds. Update torso adornments with tops by Free People, Splendid, and Juicy Couture ($12–$25) while accentuating the lower limbs of extremely tall finger puppets in designer jeans from Citizens of Humanity and Seven For All Mankind ($30). Dresses by BCBG, Betsey Johnson, and Diane von Furstenburg ($25–$45) give knees and ankles a dose of summer sun, and Big Buddha, Steve Madden, and XOXO handbags ($8–$25) chicly conceal overdue library books. Shoes ($15–$25), locally designed jewelry, and kid-sized clothing ($4–$12) also grace the already graceful assortment.
Red Mango's frozen yogurt has been garnering national attention for more than five years, unlike that musician strumming away next to the foosball table in his basement. The shop earned a place atop Zagat's 2011 lists for Best Smoothie and Frozen Yogurt Chain and Best Healthy Options Among Quick Refreshment Chains. Red Mango showcases its award-winning reputation by dishing up all-natural and gluten-free yogurts—all of which are either low-fat or nonfat—that promote healthy digestive and immune systems with natural probiotics. Customers can choose from a variety of different frozen yogurt flavors such as white peach, mango, or new mint cookie, go self-serve, or have a Red Mango team member whip up a specially made fresh fruit smoothie. The toppings bar also brims with an array of choices such as low-fat granola, carob chips, nuts, and more, allowing for creative customization.
