The spirit of Christmas is not lost; in fact, it thrives at Mitchell Christmas Tree Farm. Chad and Lisa—with their three boys in tow—run a fully functioning tree farm that grows impressive firs for the holiday season. They also make handmade wreaths and delight guests with weekend hayrides. In the true spirit of giving, visitors can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and coffee while they are cutting their own tree or picking up a yuletide shrubbery.

Hot cider warms your fingertips; flames in the fireplace warm your toes; the kids' laughter as they work on crafts warms your heart. At Pollard Ranch, going Christmas tree shopping isn't just an afternoon errand—it's a family event. Which is fitting, given the pastureland's history.

The Pollards acquired the land in pieces, one parcel in 2010 and another in 2013. They expanded in 2013, and bought a parcel that had been previously farmed by The Krueger family for decades. It was the culmination of a dream they'd been chasing since around the time they began their own family in 2008. Lloyd and Meghan Pollard took the first section of land, already a Christmas tree farm, and tacked on more acreage with the second acquisition. Today, they and their family of four continue to welcome other families to the ranch during the holiday season, when trees are on their best behavior. That's when it's filled with the heady aromas of Noble, Nordmann, and Doug firs. Guests can cut their own trees or choose a pre-cut one, and then enjoy everything else the farm has to offer. After all, its location atop the Skyline Ridge makes for breathtaking views of nearby valleys and mountains, as well as the resident deer and elk that roam the land in search of their long lost unicorn uncle.

There's much more to Lake View Farms than just pumpkins and a corn maze. Originally a produce market in the later part of the 80's, the family owners discovered that patrons found more joy exploring the grounds and spending time beneath the evergreen trees than shopping for groceries. The revelation brought about changes to the family-run farm, transforming it from a humble market to a fall family outdoor destination.

Now, families, friends, and groups can partake in a fun fall adventure beside a glistening 17-acre lake before traveling across the waters by paddleboat to pick their own pumpkin in the 15-acre patch. While customers can also take the train to the patch, passengers in paddle boats must brave past two of the farm's more unlikely residents: a lone "shark" and two "Loch Ness Monsters" that rise from the waters to photobomb boaters as they pass. Back on dry land, visitors also find plenty of memory-making opportunities as they explore the twisting 10-acre corn maze or peruse the old cow barn, which has been renovated into a seasonal gift shop.

One of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of paints in the Pacific Northwest, Parker Paint has been sprucing up interiors and exteriors since 1945. The company has evolved over the years to keep up with the latest advancements in painting technology. Among the multi-hued fruits of this evolution are weather-ready exterior paints, whose modern formulas scoff at the elements and prove ideal for realistic yet unflattering outdoor murals of the neighbors. With more than 1,600 shades to choose from, painters will find it nearly impossible to settle, like a bowl of jello during an earthquake. Luckily, customers can take advantage of the handy virtual decorator to narrow their choices and forecast what color schemes should be applied to which room, such as aquamarine themes for the exotic-fish room, bright primary colors for the inflatable fire escape, and a variety of yellows for a basement filled with antique butter churns.
