Ron and Olha Dolin didn’t discover their shared passion for wine and spirits until after they were married. Together they use Ron’s Ph.D. in engineering and Olha’s generational knowledge of producing vodka and brandy in Eastern Europe to craft handmade wines and fine spirits. Their wines include the specialty Emotion series, which includes cherry sherry, apple ice wine, and a wine made from rose petals. The two also distill spirits ranging from blue corn vodka and bourbon to gin made from New Mexico juniper, pinon, chamisa, sage, and rose hips.
Before working in one of seven New Mexico stores, each Wireless Express employee must first pass through extensive training in customer service, software, and device navigation. That way, staff can guarantee that, no matter what accessory customers are looking for or which phone feature they need help understanding, they can be out the door in less than 30 minutes. In addition to being a phone-and-accessory emporium and repair shop, each store also functions as a recycling center and trading post: staff will gladly take in discarded cell phones, chargers, batteries, and embarrassing text messages for safe disposal. The store also offers a trade-in program to upgrade devices.
Myra Krien has belly danced since she could walk. Coming from a family that produces zen philosophers and artists, she harbored a natural curiosity for the arts, and when her mother brought her to her first belly-dancing lesson at the age of 3, Myra never toddled away. In the intervening years, Myra has studied with some of the Middle East's most prolific and respected dancers, and her dancing has earned her gigs opening for musicians and other artists throughout the United States.
Now, as the owner and director of Pomegranate Studios, Myra and her team of instructors introduce new dancers to the art and refine intermediate dancers' skills in myriad classes. Students can learn styles spanning from Asia to urban America or tone up muscles in sessions designed for fitness. The studio's dance company trains performers aspiring to become professional dancers, and Myra's afterschool S.E.E.D.S program helps young women avoid the normal afterschool hopscotch gambling rings while teaching them about empowerment and educating them in the arts.

For the fourth year in a row, the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival has gathered filmmakers and performers to celebrate the independent film movement. The organizers continue to hold the event in an effort to boost economic development while also providing opportunities for educational, cultural, and artistic growth for the community. In doing so, they host panels with authors and decorated directors and question-and-answer sessions after screenings. Sponsors such as Cowgirl BBQ, KUNM 89.9 FM, and Garrett's Desert Inn serve swag and grub respectively, and every night of the festival sees its visitors feting films at bars around Santa Fe. The screenings, many of which are New Mexico premieres, take place at the historic Lensic Performing Arts Center, Warehouse 21, and the Center for Contemporary Arts.
