Anyone who has been to an arena concert knows that it isn’t really the best place to see live music. This may be the only way to see more popular acts, but unless you can shell out top dollar for some decent seats, you’ll be squinting at ant-like figures on the stage, unable to see much of anything, or you'll just be watching it on a screen, which you could have done at home. For a more intimate experience, check out Echo Curio, located on Los Angeles’ famous Sunset Boulevard. This combination art gallery/concert hall is a small venue where the performers are at ground-level, so you’ll be right there with the musicians. The cover charge is cheap, and while there’s no bar, Echo Curio does allow you to bring your own alcohol. Come rock out at Echo Curio!

Ballard’s Artwork Framing, located in Echo Park, offers street parking in front and in a nearby parking lot south of Sunset, which helps immensely in this traffic-plagued part of town. Inside, the flow is much more slowed down; framing photography or art amplifies what the piece is conveying through presentation, and Ballard’s respects that process and prides themselves on developing that understanding, as well as creating long term relationships with their clients. To ensure quality, they only use archival mats and foam board, and UV protected glass. Their main supplier, Raven & Lily, has made sustainability a promise since 1991. Ballard’s is widely considered to be one of Los Angeles best frame shops, for their service, quality and range of standard and themed frames.
