Founded by a Brazilian jujitsu black belt, the instructors at PKG Training Center work with students of all experience levels to build a strong foundation in the martial arts, get in great shape, and see transformative results. Taking a unique approach to learning, the instructors not only share their vast knowledge, but also help their pupils get outside of their comfort zones—the place where results and transformations are achieved. Classes are offered in five disciplines: mixed-martial arts, kickboxing, muay thai, boxing, and Brazilian juitsu, in addition to one-on-one training for accelerated results.
The Golf Academy/LA's savvy instructors impart tee-to-green golf wisdom to help golfers improve all aspects of their golf games and golf-specific fitness goals. Lessons harness the latest teaching aids and technology, which allow golf aces to analyze each of their client's swings with verifiable data gleaned from 3-D sensors, slow-motion video feedback, and caddies returning from a mulligan-free future. Instructors advocate the importance of physical fitness and custom-fitted clubs to the development of a well-rounded game, which can be achieved and attained within the academy's three locations.
Music thumps through LA Dancefit Studio as groups of dancers performing energetic choreography shimmy their way to toned physiques through heart-friendly cardio workouts. The enthusiastic instructors lead groups of all fitness levels through high-energy dance-fitness classes, inspiring hips to shake through Latin-inspired Zumba or helping tighten cores in body-sculpt classes. Instructors also lead traditional dance classes in the styles of ballet, ballroom, and hokey pokey, getting students ready for wedding receptions or living versions of Dancing with the Stars.
BOLDFITNESS owner Jeff Archibald offers functional fitness regimens such as weightlifting, core training and body-weight exercises. Jeff helps clients of all ages and abilities get in shape, reach their full athletic potential, recover from injuries, or train for sporting events. With scenic workouts along the Santa Monica Mountains, Jeff may take clients walking, hiking, running, and mountain or road biking. Shorter workouts may take clients to unconventional locales such as the 4th Street Stairs in Santa Monica, an ideal setting for full-body conditioning. But Jeff doesn't eschew traditional fitness facilities entirely—he regularly works with individuals in homes, at a health club, and at an indoor rock climbing venue. But at some point between reps, he'll likely suggest a trip outdoors for cardio training.

The Little Osaka outpost of this international organization founded in 1844 has a massive number of facilities under one roof. The YMCA Westside Branch sports both an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, plus a fitness center complete with free weights and machines, three racquetball courts and a basketball court. There’s even a small outdoor running track to give guests an excuse to enjoy the L.A. sunshine. Like many YMCAs, the focus at the Westside Family YMCA is on the community programs, whether its children’s swim classes, sports leagues for kids or group exercise classes for adults, featuring known workouts like Zumba and yoga. Added together, there are full gym chains with fewer options than this well-known Y keeps under one roof.
