For more than 60 years, Toys“R”Us has been helping kids be kids and grown-ups to revisit their childhoods by providing one of the largest selections of top-brand toys, electronics, games and everyday baby essentials. Founder, Charles Lazarus, revolutionized the toy business by modeling his stores after supermarkets, providing a variety of options to suit varying ages and interests and offering customers to help themselves and have fun in the process. Today, that sense of playfulness is evident at nearly 600 stores in the United States alone, including a flagship location in Times Square where kids are greeted by a 60-foot Ferris wheel, a 5-ton animatronic T-Rex, and a life-sized, 4,000-square-foot Barbie house.

Beyond everybody's favorite bikes, trains and video games, each Toys“R”Us store keeps its shelves stocked with the season’s must-have toys as well as nostalgic standbys that never go out of style. Time-tested brands such as LEGO, Radio Flyer, NERF and Fisher-Price share the shelves with an expansive selection of electronics for older kids, including Wii U and tablets. And though the company has inspired generations of boys and girls to try their hardest not to grow up, it also strives to ensure budding brains develop right on track by devoting a significant portion of its stores to “smart-play” with a wide selection of electronic learning toys and software.

Toys“R”Us—whose extended family of brands includes Babies“R”Us and FAO Schwarz—has earned a number of awards and recognitions through the years, including a spot on Fortune’s list of the World’s Most Admired Companies in 2012. The company has also drawn considerable recognition for its expansive charitable efforts, which include partnerships with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and Save the Children. This year also marks the tenth consecutive year that the company has partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to collect new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations in its stores to benefit the organization.

Chef Sandy Pike acquired lots of free time when she sold her dessert business, Queen of Tarts, in 2005. Soon afterward, a close family member needed a diet overhaul following some stern words from the doctor. Drawing upon more than 20 years of culinary experience and a love affair with local, seasonal ingredients, Sandy began preparing healthy, flavorful meals ideal for diabetics. Before long, non-diabetic friends and neighbors began clamoring for her creations as well. In response, she launched Home Cuisine, a kitchen where she and fellow chefs create complete, nutritious meals that can be picked up or delivered, then heated and enjoyed at home, as a part of Louisville's only healthy meal delivery service. Now in its tenth year, Home Cuisine employs classically trained chefs to prepare Paleo meals made with local and organic ingredients, providing clients a healthy approach to clean eating.

Filled with fresh produce, eggs, and lean meats?not trans fats or chunks of deep-fried Spam?her dishes showcase healthy eating's tasty side and illustrate the concept of portion control. Her staffers follow the American Heart Association's dietary guidelines and consult dietitians and food scientists from two local universities to ensure that each meal is as balanced as possible. Following the Paleo diet, many have experienced significant weight loss, while other clients have identified food allergies.

Sandy and her daughter Mae, a seasoned event planner, support a variety of area charities, including Boys & Girls Haven, Dare to Care Food Bank, and Blessings in a Backpack. As a family of foodies,

Alpine Ice Arena grants blade-borne guests from well-padded tots to aspiring pros a friction-free winter haven. Stands hold up to 500 spectators while a snack bar warms their bellies with hot dogs, hot cocoa, and other delectable treats. Staff in the pro shop or figure- and hockey-skating lessons arm gliders with gear, grace, and grit. Spectators dropping by the arena might cross tracks with Kentucky's first adult skating team, Moms on Ice, synchronized ice dancers The Belles, or wistful zambonis donning sequins during downtime.

The newest attraction at Louisville Mega Cavern, Mega Quest, just opened in Fall 2013 and claims to be the only underground ropes challenge course in the world. The Mega Cavern, originally a limestone mine, was mined for 42 years, beginning in the 1930s, and is now the largest building in the state of Kentucky. The cavernous facility utilizes its 90-foot-high thoroughfares to unite guests with an exhilaration previously known only to highly caffeinated miners?ziplining. Customers can purchase separate tickets for a variety of attractions, including Mega Zips ziplining, open daily throughout the year, the Lights Under Louisville show running during the Christmas season. The Mega Tram, which runs beginning in mid-January through early October. During Mega Zips tours of up to two hours, amateur spelunkers will stream across the subterrain?s six underground ziplines and dual racing lines under the sage supervision of the cavern's ACCT-certified experts. Along the way, guides will entertain guests with tales of the cavern?s rich history and uncanny impressions of stalagmites.

The seasoned sky jockeys at Cardinal Wings Aviation arm students with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the wild blue yonder. Calling upon thousands of professional hours and experience flying in all weather situations, these instructors command a fleet of metal birds that includes a single-engine Cessna and a Cirrus aircraft with a glass cockpit.
