Classically trained ballet dancers bestow their knowledge upon students at Sterling Ballet Academy. They teach ballet to students of all ages and experience levels, with special family classes for parents with children as young as 18 months. Each class fosters an improved sense of confidence and discipline, and teaches moves such as the plié or Macarena.
Dance With Me!'s Sensuous Expressions pole classes give beginners and workout-weary dames the chance to boost inner and outer confidence through passionate and effective exercises. The studio's pole-swinging professionals shatter preconceptions of female fitness limitations with a routine specifically designed to tone and contour desirable areas as well as improve general grace while having fun and feeling sultry. Small class sizes provide a comfortable space in which to incubate growing self-assurance, receive personal attention, and discuss FarmVille acquisitions. Impact-dampening cushioned wood floors and poles up to 18 feet reflect Dance With Me!'s commitment to high-quality instruction. Classes begin May 2 and run Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:15 p.m.–7:15 p.m., and on Saturdays, 9:45 a.m.–10:45 a.m., with additional classes added if needed.
A panel of certified instructors is ready and waiting to instruct students in the ways of balance and coordinated rhythmic motion. Bring a partner to your duo of private lessons, or fly solo and dance with your instructor and a knowing smirk. In either case, you'll leave with a greater understanding of the dance style of your choosing. These lessons are ideal for a range of potential students, from the disgruntled pedestrian looking to never get served again to the fledgling fitness-seeker looking for a fun new way to get shipshape. Stick to a stately waltz, spicy up life with a rumba, or feel vibrant and playful with a few new swing steps for your personal repertoire. Whether you're an experienced dancer hoping to brush up on certain techniques or you have two left feet for feet and two right feet for hands, the lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio offer bountiful, dance-based benefits.
At Commotion, the instructors embrace a full spectrum of movement-based activities and exercises by offering three distinct pathways for students to pursue. The dance teachers welcome attendees of all ages, either introducing newcomers to the fundamental footwork of ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and breakdancing, or helping advanced students master more complex skills. When it comes to Pilates, the instructors practice the slightly modernized Stott method as they lead mat classes as well as apparatus sessions, which use the Reformer to add gentle amounts of spring resistance to the various exercises. The fitness-oriented offerings encompass everything from Zumba and Piloxing to TRX suspension training and barre workouts, toning muscles and increasing cardiovascular health.
The instructors at Halo Dance Studio encourage shakers of all ages and abilities to embrace movement as a way to nurture the mind, the body, and the spirit. With a packed schedule that offers classes six days a week, students can explore a variety of different dance styles. Energetic hip-hop classes feature fresh-from-the-street beats, and a beginners tap-and-jazz hybrid class sees tappers testing their skills on the floor or on the small cloud floating in the middle of the studio. Master the grooves of other cultures in a spicy Latin-fusion session or an abdominal-bending belly-dance class. Ballet is offered in three twinkle-toed levels—pre ballet, level one, and level two. Classes are available on a drop-in basis, so students are free to visit the dance floor when the urge to pop, lock, or plié hits them like an anvil wearing Hammer pants.
