Velocity Bootcamp's clients torch calories, whittle waists, and tone muscles during 30-minute boot-camp workouts. Consisting of bodyweight exercises such as suspension training and plyometrics, the small group workouts take place in a supportive, non-intimidating atmosphere. For convenience, the staff schedules up to 20 classes per week, including 6 a.m. classes for early birds who want to get the worm and then sling it several hundred yards. The personal trainers also help clients outside the gym by offering them easy-to-follow nutrition guidelines.
KaliYoga furthers limb litheness, fortifies breath control, and realigns skeleton space suits for students ranging from kids to seniors. A full schedule offers gentle and moderate Hatha and Vinyasa classes that are overseen by certified instructors who attentively cater to veterans malleable as warm wax and neophytes unable to touch their toes. Cores tighten like a grip around a vial of precious dragon tears during each Pilates mat class, where students use their own body weight as resistance to strengthen muscles and obtain a perfect posture. PiYo classes that blend both disciplines are available for indecisive conjoined twins or doubly enthusiastic yogis-to-be. Classes are offered in both heated and unheated spaces to create an environment that fosters proper Pranayama practice. Large windows breach wall dams, allowing natural light to flood into practice rooms lined with hardwood floors. Students may bring their own mat or borrow one from KaliYoga's hidden silo for no additional fee.

Diane Tellier will walk all over you. Gripping overhead bars for balance, she performs ashiatsu massage, kneading her clients' backs with her bare feet for extra firm pressure. This helps keep bodies limber and pain-free, as does a host of yoga classes inside The Place's quaint, airy studio. The sessions cater to all skill levels, whether you're just beginning, dropping in for a yoga dance session, or trying out for the Downward Facing Dog in the local production of 101 Dalmatians. In addition to yoga and ashiatsu massge, The Place also offers modalities such as craniosacral therapy and Reiki.
