Beneath the purple-and-white-striped walls, ladies of all ages and fitness levels twirl around poles and sink seductively into chairs during The Perfect Poleforma’s alternative fitness classes. Instructors lead groups of up to 10 women through beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes. The classes start with basic pole spins and leg-strength exercises and graduate to swinging upside down, hanging onto the pole with just the inner thighs, and climbing flagpoles to add stars as new states are discovered. They also conduct parties for bachelorettes and birthday girls, allowing groups of friends free rein of the ceiling-mounted poles.

The certified teachers at TC Dance Club International recognize that people dance for all kinds of reasons; accordingly, they structure different programs to meet the needs of everyone from casual dancers hoping to light up the dance floor at an upcoming party to perfectionists in the pursuit of lifelong grace. Their lessons incorporate a multitude of styles, including tango, merengue, foxtrot, and rain dances. On Friday nights, students can practice what they've learned in dance parties, which are set to premade mixes in a room with dimmed lights and an open bar.
After noticing that the local community lacked effective fitness regimens that encouraged women have fun and learn new skills, Anne Reed started Pole Pro with Charlotte Newton. To offer an enjoyable, judgment-free alternative to the traditional workout class, the duo created a program that blends exotic dance with elements from gymnastics, yoga, and Pilates. Since opening, they've assembled a team of professionally trained teachers who all have backgrounds in dance, fitness, or pole husbandry and who are certified in first aid and CPR. Anne and Charlotte continually evaluate their staffers to ensure that they persistently espouse quality instruction.
Poledancing uses a lot of muscles, many of which are hard to work out in everyday life. That's part of the theory behind Body In Motion. But the studio doesn't forget that, like all dance, pole dance is about having fun. Private parties fill the space when it is not in use by trainers and instructors, who help patrons shed weight with diet plans and weigh ins. In addition to that weight loss, patrons can also tone the muscles in their arms, legs, and backs or detox and relax with V-steam packages.
Jazzercise is 60 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching that incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training with handheld weights. Dancing with the Stars multiple-champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of Jazzercise's improvisational workouts, though luckily you won't need her dance moves to get the most out of your class. If you're prone to first-class jitters, though, you can review the basic moves online before you go. Expect to burn off up to 500 calories with each go-round.
