Jeff Burger’s two-decade journey through the world of martial arts has included training in muay thai in Bangkok and kung fu in China, as well as acquiring fifth-degree black belts for karate and jujitsu. He has also collected a variety of awards to hang on his belt, including a silver medal at the 2006 Muay Thai World Championship. The most recent leg of his journey brought him to Massachusetts, where he founded the New England Muay Thai Institute in 2007 and currently teaches martial arts to kids and adults. Many of the classes are combative in nature, such as muay thai, karate, jujitsu, and a class called Combatives, during which Burger calls upon his US Marshals certification for teaching defensive tactics. But there are also noncombative options available, such as Zumba, boot camp, and noncontact yoga.
