At Creative Kids, imagination is the driving force behind the programming for each day. The school’s facility boasts an art room, a movement and dance area, and a parent’s lounge, with rooms painted in bright solid hues of purple, green, and orange. Kids are encouraged to express themselves and discover new talents, whether that means building robots out of LEGO blocks, rocking out in a music class, or embracing their inner Picasso in an art class. With such a wide variety, kids can let their imagination run wild and choose from a broad selection of signature party themes and activities.
At Revolution Cycling Studio, founder, certified spin expert, and personal trainer Traci Sakellakis leads a team of instructors who know firsthand how life-changing—perhaps even addictive—spinning can be. Class leader Jennifer Giordano became hooked on cycling almost by accident: one Saturday afternoon 10 years ago, her brother invited her for a "leisurely" bike ride that ended up stretching a whopping 33 miles. She rose to the occasion, and now encourages others to meet their own fitness goals. Additionally, fellow staffer Christian Ramos was overweight and out of shape before he started cycling, but has since lost more than 80 pounds and helps students do the same.
Motivating shouts and energizing beats from the sound system keeps students’ heart rates high as they pedal within the small, intimate studio. Some classes even feature themed music, such as tunes by "one-hit wonders" or a celebration of the British Invasion. Throughout the workout, the computerized Star Trac spinner bike provides continuous feedback on the exercisers' heart rate and distance travelled. The crew incorporates weight training and ab work into some sessions and also offers teen classes that are ideal for adolescent people or full-grown Keebler elves seeking stress relief.
LA Boxing offers fitness classes in boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. The proprietary style of the LA Boxing workout is a mixture of genuine fight training, engaging fitness, and stronger-than-earth gravity. Quasi-boxers and martial artists usually burn 800 to more than 1,000 calories during these total-body routines, which combine external inspiration with jukes, jabs, and kicks.
Before the archivists of Art and Framing Gallery begin a project, they slip on pairs of cotton gloves. By sheathing their hands, they guard against fingerprints and finger-paints. Their dedication to museum-quality workmanship shines through each project, whether it's a same-day framing job or a standard three- to seven-day order.
In Art and Framing Gallery's showrooms, walls display more than 3,000 frame samples and acre upon acre of mats. Ready-made framed mirrors and artwork also share this space, which connects to in-house workshops. Here, craftsmen cut custom glass and piece together each project. They skillfully preserve artwork and portraits and excel with projects that require special care. They encase delicate antiques in UV-protective glass and display sports jerseys in cases that ward off wrinkling and grass stains.
Being a successful stand-up comedian takes more than just being funny or hypnotizing your audience into laughing. It is an art that must be learned and practice. During stand-up classes at The Comedy Cove At Scotty's, seasoned comics teach amateurs to find their individual voices, structure a set, and improvise material. The club's new-talent nights grant up-and-comers a space to work on performing in front of a live audience, and each class's best student receives the opportunity to open for a professional comedian's weekend show. The Comedy Cove reserves its Friday and Saturday slots for touring acts whose credits include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman.
Downstairs from the club, the times are no less merry at Scotty's Steak House. Here, the menu ranges from steakhouse classics—such as 20-ounce rib eyes—to pub-style options—including disco fries. To complement feasts, bartenders serve brews and mixed drinks indoors and at the tiki bar on Scotty's outdoor patio.
