As the tanning bed's lid closes, a cool breeze starts to blow, a gentle mist cools your skin, and the scents of aromatherapy transform a 12-minute tanning session into a miniature vacation. This S-Class bed is just one of the approximately 10 tanning options that fill City Sun Tanning. Staffers help clients select the right bed, leading them down hallways to an iBed sunbed?which features rotating facial lights?or a X-2 High Pressure bronzing stand-up, which can bronze pallid skin in ten minutes. Alternatively, visitors step onto the AutoBronzer's open-air platform, which evenly sprays UV-free tanning solution. In June of 2009, this sunless system caught the eye of New York Magazine, which lauded City Sun Tanning for having one of the "top five spray tans." The tanning salon has also garnered accolades from Citysearchers, who for several years, named it "Best of Citysearch".

Q&A with Eric Berger, Development Director

What is the one feature of your business that you're most proud of?

We tell the story of America's industrial revolution as it unfolded in Manchester, New Hampshire, which was once home to the largest textile manufacturer in the world. The museum's exhibits and displays are professionally designed and presented. We get positive comments and reviews from our visitors who come from around the United States and the world.

What?s your favorite part of your job?

Being able to share with others American history through the history of Manchester and its wonderful mill buildings, which are truly exceptional.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?

The mill buildings in Manchester's Millyard District were all built by the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company over a period of 75 years. The company ensured that all the bricks be a uniform color to give a sense of unity and harmony. The Millyard is on the National Register of Historic Places, as are the nearby still-intact corporate housing clusters built by the company for its workers.

Hoping to revive the culture of the neighborhood butcher shop, with its personalized service, attention to detail, and artful products, restaurant-industry veterans Justin Rosberg and Jason Parent took a gamble on their first New Hampshire butcher shop in 2003. Dubbed The Meat House, their store quickly earned a foodie following, spawning additional franchise locations across the country. Today, The Meat House’s many locations stock fine cheeses, prepared side dishes, other gourmet grocery items, and hundreds of wines alongside the usual selection of traditional and exotic meats. Butchers also explain how to prepare each hand-carved cut of meat, sharing recipes, best slicing practices, and cooking techniques for giving pork chops the flavor of justice.

Photographer Jeffrey Dachowski first picked up a camera in high school, and from his credits and credentials, you might think he’d never put it down since. His photos have landed on the pages of Rolling Stone and Woman's World, and his trophy case is lined with nine Kodak Gallery awards and two Fuji Masterpiece awards. Eventually, Jeffrey and his wife, Carolle, planted their own studio on the banks of the Merrimack River, where they teach photography classes in addition to working for commercial, portraiture, and wedding clients. Indoor courses teach Photoshop at beginning and intermediate levels, and the day-long Portrait Safari brings pupils outdoors, where they can capture scenes of majestic puppies in the wild.

A company that was built primarily on referrals, Armstrong Heating and Power Vac Inc. has purged ducts and chimneys for more than 40 years. During each air-duct cleaning, trained techs use power-vacuum trucks and custom duct-cleaning equipment to remove dirt and debris without the use of chemicals or sealers, which has a similar effect on a human’s mouth as peanut butter on a dog’s mouth. When they aren't purging residential air canals, technicians clean out dryer vents and chimneys to keep homes’ respiratory systems in working order and prevent the potentially dangerous results of chronic disrepair.:m]]
