"What do you want to create?" That is the question posed to each of New Orleans Paint N Party's visitors. During the studio's energetic parties, local artists teach visitors to put brush on canvas, creating colorful projects such as streetcars and city skylines. The staff keeps it simple. They greet each visitor with a presketched canvas and a trove of supplies, including brushes and paints. New Orleans Paint N Party also invites its customers to bring along food and potable beverages; they'll even supply the wine opener, ice bucket, ice pick, and drinking glasses.
The certified teachers at TC Dance Club International recognize that people dance for all kinds of reasons; accordingly, they structure different programs to meet the needs of everyone from casual dancers hoping to light up the dance floor at an upcoming party to perfectionists in the pursuit of lifelong grace. Their lessons incorporate a multitude of styles, including tango, merengue, foxtrot, and rain dances. On Friday nights, students can practice what they’ve learned in dance parties, which are set to premade mixes in a room with dimmed lights and an open bar.
Look Studios & Gallery’s team tutors all levels of students in realistic brush strokes and drawing techniques during classes focused on accurately depicting the human form. By discouraging participants from copying each other or hiring an art student intern to paint for them, the staff nurtures creativity and allows it to bloom during intimate BYOB classes. Here, they guide students through the basics to interpret a preselected image using provided materials. In addition to teaching portrait and human figure classes, owner Juliet Lockwood holds summer retreats for artists who paint seascape-inspired pieces during a one- to two-week stay in a Gloucester cottage.
High-quality Paul Mitchell products restore and hydrate damaged strands during haircare sessions at Vanguard College of Cosmetology- A Paul Mitchell Partner School. Supervised by experienced instructors, stylists-in-training cultivate client relaxation with a five-minute scalp massage before every haircut, which may also include a scrub with chemical-free salves such as wild-ginger-infused Awapuhi shampoo. The school also strives to give back to the community by hosting regular charity events, and a Green Team aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the 14,000-square-foot campus until it can fit a sleek pair of kitten heels.
