Sound Excursions describes their carefully curated group experiences as "field trips for adults." It's easy to see why: every outing takes groups to a new realm of Washington, whether it's the frothy shores of Puget Sound, inland forests and mountains, or tables at Seattle's thriving restaurants. The events held at these diverse locations range from culinary workshops on topics such as sushi-making and moonshine-tasting, to adventurous excursions with whitewater rafting or kayaking, to laid-back themed party cruises. For many outings, luxury transportation is provided.
Welcome to Peace Token Tackle! My name is Mike Jung. I opened my shop because of my love for fishing, especially jigging. Peace Token Fishing Tackle has all the quality supplies a fisherman demands. Peace Token Fishing Tackle specializes in jigging and I have introduced many anglers into jigging over the years.
As the morning or afternoon sun sparkles across the waters of Sheepshead Bay, Captain Joe Lind takes a deep breath of salty air and fires up the engines of his luxury catamaran, the Golden Sunshine. Though Lind's vessel can carry up to 350 passengers to private events on Rockaway Beach and the Jersey Coast, its spacious decks and cabins play host to smaller groups on fishing charters. During these trips, the Golden Sunshine's crew supplies prospective anglers with all of the equipment, tackle, and knowledge they need to reel in a hearty catch of fluke, which they promptly filet to ensure freshness. When they aren't scanning the azure waters for signs of fluke or Russian submarines, the crew leads tours to view fireworks celebrations and offers private charters on select evenings.
About the 55’ Capt’s Lady charter-fishing vessel, fishers of all experience levels angle for fluke, striped bass, bluefish, or porgy in Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay. The boat’s twin Detroit Diesel engines keep things motoring while an experienced crew of happily grizzled seafarers make the experience fun and easy. When they’re not helping newcomers get used to fishing’s nuances, they’re happy to answer other questions; go ahead and ask them about the biggest fish they’ve ever caught, or about that time they mistook the Statue of Liberty for a really big mermaid. Recently renovated, the ship also includes creature comforts such as an onboard bathroom, snack bar, and cabin seating.
More than 50 years ago, Donna G was born at Virginia’s Price boatyard. Since then, she has sailed from Point Pleasant, New Jersery; Hyannis Port, Massachusetts; and other famed locales. Lately, however, she has made her home in Sheepshead Bay.
While her biography reads like that of a lifelong mariner, Donna G is actually a classic, US Coast Guard–certified party boat. Captain Dominick of Donna G, LLC recently restored to the boat to a yacht-like finish with passion and unwavering attention to detail and outfitted her with cutting-edge fish-finding electronics. Nowadays, Captain Dominick showcases his handiwork—as well as his more than 50 years of boating experience and care for his clients—on chartered fishing trips, which trawl New York’s waters for flounder and other catches.
Loaded down with affable gangs of amateur fishermen, the Lady Midnight and her sister ship, the Captain Midnight, set off from Brooklyn's Pier 1 for full- and half-day charter fishing trips. After hooking the provided bait, passengers drop in their lines and patiently await bites from species such as fluke and porgy in the summer or blackfish and ling throughout the rest of the year. On the trip back to port, the boat's deckhands assist with cleaning and packaging the fresh catch. Owners can then take home their catch to toss on the grill or use to catch an even bigger fish in their bathtub that doubles as a lake.
