Armed with rental equipment, guests on All Star Paintball Arena's 13,500-square foot indoor field recharge their guns at three self-fill stations in between rounds spent ducking behind inflatables to dodge incoming splatter. Designed by avid players, the year-round field—heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer—hosts matches five days a week along with occasional cash tournaments and even a recent episode of TLC's Cake Boss. Along with its main playing area, All Star Paintball Arena houses on-site refreshments and snacks in case paint alone doesn’t suffice as friend-splattering ammo. To boot, a fully staffed pro-shop stocks an ever-growing inventory of brand-name gear.

Attracting more than 170,000 art enthusiasts to its events in 2011, the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival showcases original work from hundreds of artisans showcasing everything from handcrafted pottery, sculpture, and metalwork to jewelry, fashion, décor, and photography. Audiences can witness art being made live during educational demonstrations as artisans sculpt clay, whittle wood, forge metals, and imbue baskets with the power of speech. Hungry crafters can also sniff out specialty food items to sample or purchase while dancing across the sprawling venue to the tunes of live music.

The course at Stonybrook Golf Club weaves along verdant paths buttressed by dense walls of foliage, creating a relatively short 3,514-yard track from the back tees. Course architect Robert Krieger incorporated frequent misdirection that leads to blind shots, including double doglegs on the 6th and 15th holes, the course’s only two par 5s. Water hazards come into play on seven holes and speedy greens can cause further complications for golfers with the yips or roller-skate golf shoes. When walking, a round can be finished in under three hours, letting players quickly return to daily life or the scene of the accident.
