What might look like walls dotted with large wads of bubblegum to beginners, soon transforms into a network of pathways after students complete indoor rock climbing courses at Elite Climbing. The experienced staff are always onsite to lend a hand, even outside of class time, and demonstrate a sport that requires both physical and mental agility. With bouldering and top roping walls, both amateur and expert climbers can find an adequate challenge as they master 120 climbing routes from 19 stations. Kids can also get in on the action, during classes and summer camps that keep them from getting grounded for rappelling off the neighbor's roof.
In golf, reliving mistakes is sometimes a good thing. It can help a player find the faults in his or her swing, and then make the necessary adjustments in order to finally crack open a golf ball and retrieve the shiny pearl inside. That's exactly what the PGA-certified instructors at Fox Meadow Golf Center accomplish through their JC Video motion-analysis software. The system captures video of players and then breaks down every element of a swing—from the initial backswing to the moment of impact.
Of course, this video system would be useless without practice areas. The driving range's five target greens lie at distances between 50 and 205 yards. Balls launch from 60 tees, including 30 heated tees that stay open year round. A sand trap lies nearby, and a synthetic putting green helps bolster short games. These facilities are the setting for Fox Meadow Golf Center's instructional programs, including junior and adult camps that focus on everything from chipping to bunker play. Alternatively, an onsite 18-hole mini-golf course allows for more casual putting.
Seventy feet stand between the birthday kid and a giant slice of cake. Inflated structures block him at every turn as he weaves his way through the obstacle course. Once finished, he can finally head to the party room, where dessert, presents, and a notarized letter from Father Time await. The celebration takes place at Bounce Party Play, whose business name is also an apt summary for everything that occurs within their supervised, indoor bounce center.
In addition to an obstacle course, the arena encompasses bounce houses, inflated games, and giant slides that race from the ceiling to the floor. Nearby, electronic beeps fill a kid-friendly arcade. In addition to birthdays and open sessions, the indoor play center hosts special events such as Family Bounce nights, fueled by devouring pizza, sipping soda, and turning earth's gravity dial slightly to the left—but not to the right, never to the right.

Thom Callen sat behind his first drum kit at age 4. By 15, he was drumming at a professional level. These days, his skills with the skins have landed him gigs with award-winning songwriters and touring funk groups. But when he's not showcasing his talents, Thom trains fellow beat keepers of all ages and skill levels at Callan Music and Drum Studio.
After seating students behind a professional set, Thom teaches basic methods, such as keeping a simple beat. He then builds upon those tricks to more advanced techniques, like executing perfect drum fills while napping. Each lesson caters to students' individual paces, as well as their favorite styles, including jazz, rock, or world rhythm. If pupils provide an SD card, Thom can even record the lessons so students can listen back afterward.
