Kickboxing classes deliver a knee to the face of fat, burning up to 860 calories an hour with the high-energy striking moves of martial arts and boxing. All four limbs get in on the bag-bludgeoning action at iLoveKickboxing as each class provides a full-body workout that tones arm, leg, and tentacle muscles while tightening the body’s core and improving balance. Hitting the heavy bags won't skin your knuckles once you don the included boxing gloves, which also double as excellent spring-loaded props for re-creating Three Stooges gags. Class times and dates vary based on location.
In one section of No Body Denied’s 26,000-square-foot facility exercisers work up a sweat amid a sea of more than 70 cardio machines. In another part, kids aged 9–14 hurdle obstacles, run on a track, and scale agility ladders during Track Attack—one of three programs made just for kids. As their gym's name states, the staff at No Body Denied set out to create a multipurpose gym to include everyone, and with that in mind, they also included a childcare center to relieve parents of watching their wee ones while working out.
Throughout three studios, the gym’s instructors lead more than 15 group fitness classes, including Group Groove, which inspires students to whip into shape by busting a move to up-tempo music. More than 85 classes take place each week, utilizing cycling machines, 25,000 pounds of free weights, and the NBD Strike Zone, where blue heavy bags try helplessly to defend themselves from a flurry of kicks and punches. A team of trainers also offers personalized athletic training and team training for adults and kids. To help guests recover after intensive workouts, No Body Denied’s dry sauna can help keep muscles loose and resistant to injury without the use of witchcraft.
Sweat Factory's trainers expect hard work of their exercisers, but for good reason. Their CrossFit workouts change every day, which means muscles never become complacent and stop changing. CrossFit's blend of conditioning, gymnastics, weightlifting, and throwing helps clients power right through weight-loss plateaus.
Master Byung Uk Kim owns World Champion’s K Tae Kwon Do, but helming the studio is hardly the most impressive stat on his martial-arts résumé. A seventh-dan black belt, Master Kim’s tae kwon do experience spans the globe—he was the head coach of the USA’s Junior Olympic Team, and a 10-time national champion in Korea, the sport’s country of origin.
At his two New Jersey studios, Master Kim currently teaches his specialty to students of all experience levels and belt hues, aided by a team of trainers. Beyond courses in their namesake discipline, the studios also host free cardio-kickboxing nights for parents every Tuesday, as well as tae kwon do–themed birthday parties.
Originally founded by a group that includes retired pro boxer Danny Campbell, TITLE Boxing Club offers total-body workouts that blend boxing, kickboxing, and fitness. After donning tape and gloves, students can greet a 100-pound heavy bag with a barrage of kicks, jabs, crosses, hooks, and unkind words. Each of the club's trainers focuses on a different area, such as technicality, core and balance, or moderate- to high-intensity training. Other equipment around the facility includes a boxing ring, speed bags, and double-end bags, as well as free weights and cardiovascular machines.
