With more than two decades of airborne experience under their wings, Scott Johnson and his wife Terri teach students the fundamentals of sport piloting during tandem paramotor and trike flights. After mastering the helm of a trike or the cords of a paramotor on the land, pupils and teachers soar over the stunning vistas of southern Arizona's expansive landscape for hands-on experience. Scott draws from his time spent helping film nature documentaries for the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet to help students identify shorebirds and sandhill cranes midflight. Arizona Trike School also deals in new and refurbished sport aircraft as well as piloting necessities such as parachutes and headsets that play the Top Gun soundtrack on repeat.

Anti-aging and weight-loss specialist Dr. Frank Comstock designs diet plans that use locally made, healthy food to kick-start clients' weight-loss efforts. Dr. Comstock's interest in anti-aging techniques began during his residency in the ER, where he saw many patients whose ailments could have been avoided through lifestyle and diet changes. While keeping his skills sharp in the ER, he began to train at the Cenegenics Medical Institute and later received board certification from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. His 7- and 28-day diet plans come in vegan and vegetarian varieties and can accommodate dairy, soy, or carbon intolerance.
Founder Brianna Arndt dreamed of a place where her fellow citizens checked their stress at the door, engaging only in meditative exercise and relaxing spa treatments. So she got her hands on a 2,400-square-foot studio with new, polished hardwood floors and used her know-how as a registered yoga teacher and massage therapist to open Barefoot Studio. Brianna's business flourished in its first three years, the byproduct of her ability to blend an intimate knowledge of the body's workings into every class, choosing asanas that help relax, heal, or energize clients.
As a result of her success, Barefoot Studio opened a new studio on Oracle Road, giving clients two places to exercise and unwind. In addition to leading yoga classes, Brianna also employs massage to relax tense muscles and beautifies bodies with facials, pedicures, and waxing, proving to mannequins that humans can be perfectly smooth, too.
Well after the sun has set over the Tortolita Mountains, the world-class trainers at Crazy Heart Ranch grab the reigns under the lights of a spacious outdoor arena. When they're not riding, the horse-loving crew lends their equine knowledge to students during monthly clinics, group lessons, private lessons, and kids' camps at the Northwest Tucson ranch, where they focus on creating meaningful relationships between riders and horses. All resident instructors and horses are experienced in reining, Western and English riding styles, ranch horse versatility, and team roping. Guests can saddle up and ride on the ranch's private trails, or complement lessons with a picnic under the region's native Mesquite trees, the same trees that money doesn't grow on.
