Upon entering Yannalfo's, the warm orange walls of the dining room and the clinking of glassware at the gleaming wooden bar compete for sensory attention. But neither can hold guests' attention once the scents of savory Italian sauces and baking seafood emanate from the kitchen. They start off making the basics with a touch of flair, from pasta strewn with freshly made meatballs and ravioli in a sauce made from simmering wild mushrooms and cream. But from there, they tackle more complicated, nuanced dishes. They toss five types of seafood in a zesty red clam sauce and make desserts from sweet seasonal ingredients such as berries or big tax return documents. For their signature dish, the Pappardelle alla Yannalfo's, they combine the best of which features sea with shrimp with portobello mushrooms in a vodka tomato cream sauce over pappardelle pasta.

Frozyos Self Serve Frozen Yogurt features many flavors to choose from, including creamy peanut butter, Grandma’s Apple Pie, and ice coffee. But, unlike a spouse, there’s no need to settle for just one.

For instance, if you help yourself to a half-cup of cake yogurt and a half-cup of ice coffee and then mix it all together, you end up with a creamy tiramisu treat. Or if you mash up Simply Vanilla and Succulent Orange, the resulting sweet pop of Orange Creamsicle may transport you back to those hot summer days of a childhood spent holed up in the coolest place of the house, the brick chimney, eating such an iced treat.

The more than 40 toppings—fresh fruit, Reese’s Pieces, and hot fudge, to name a few—only sweeten the deal. Plus, it’s easy to allow for some decadent toppings without feeling guilty; the yogurt underneath is nonfat, nondairy, and has no added sugar.

Ocean House Surf Shop and Cafe isn't just a place you get the latest surfing gear. It's a place where people go to experience the ocean in new ways. Staff lead group and individual surfing lessons in which they cover the basics of paddling, balancing, and turning on rental boards from top brands such as Rip Curl and Walden. For those looking for something more unique, they also have a yoga instructor on staff who teaches classes atop standup paddleboards afloat at sea. To help fuel surfers, SUPers, and yogis, staff also serve up cafe fare such as scones, coffee, and paninis. These confer a healthy boost of energy to surfers without the risks of wearing battery packs in the ocean.

Mildred's Corner Cafe welcomes regulars and new customers alike into a world of quaint Americana, piping-hot pots of coffee, and hearty feasts of homestyle breakfast food. The café’s decor charms first-time visitors with its chrome-lined barstools, chessboard floor, and walls covered in photographs of Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, and other 1940s glamour girls. A cozy seating arrangement invites guests to settle in at a table or share laughs with old buddies and newfound friends at the diner counter. After ordering from the menu of classic dishes and innovative specials, diners dig their forks into pumpkin-infused pancakes, huevos rancheros, or southwest eggs benedict, which seats poached eggs and grilled chorizo atop a bed of crispy home fries sauteed with cactus. The beverage menu boasts 25 different flavors of loose-leaf tea and 16-ounce mugs of fresh coffee.

After their meal, patrons can stroll next door to the Old Soul Gift Shop, which memorializes visits with gifts such as vintage knickknacks and kitchenware. And true to its old-fashioned ambiance, Mildred's only accepts payment in the form of cash or barbershop-quartet routines.

At the outset, Cakes for Occasions owner Kelly Delaney was a one-woman baking wonder, churning out specialty cakes from a single oven in her mother?s kitchen. Today, just more than a decade later, nearly 30 employees join Kelly to sift, whip, and frost more than 700 wedding cakes each year. The still-expanding business has drawn the attention of many press outlets, including The Today Show, and has earned a multitude of accolades that include the Wedding Wire Bride?s Choice Award in 2012, a spot on the Boston Globe 2011 and 2013 A-Lists for its birthday and wedding cakes, and an appearance on TV Diner. The legendary lineup of baked goods ranges from four-tiered fondant wedding cakes to tuxedo cake pops, ideal for black-tie food-on-a-stick galas.
