Sarah Baranek-Magnusek seemed destined for the hairstyling world: her great-grandfather John Kapal worked as a barber in Milwaukee for 70 years, sparking a trend that was passed down to her grandfather, mother, and a slew of other relatives. Today—85 years and four generations of stylists after John Kapal opened his barbershop —Sarah keeps the legacy alive at Unique Transitions Salon & Spa, where she helms a team of seasoned stylists, aestheticians, and massage therapists. Amid the salon's serene environs, they work to meticulously liven up hair, skin, and nails with a vast array of supplies that includes Tigi hair care products, China Glaze nail polish, and Repêchage skin care serums.
The extensive selection of services includes a diverse array of techniques, ranging from cleansing facials and body wraps to manicures, pedicures, and tanning. Stylists forge custom wigs and human-hair extensions alongside technicians that imbue permanent makeup and collagen-induction therapy treatments into epidermises. During each service, the skilled staffers draw from their knowledge of contemporary beauty trends to help enhance clients' desired looks and update the outfits of long-lost mannequins.
If clients peek into the drawers of one of the stylist stations at Chrysalis Salon & Spa, they'll find a variety of tools—scissors for snipping new looks, foils for tinting locks with highlights, and spray for teasing hair into updos. Over at the nail stations, they'll find a sweeping rainbow of shellac, acrylic, and gel polishes. And in the spa area, there are oils and skincare products for facials, waxes, and body treatments.
After graduating from the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology, Sue Hudson spent over 25 years molding tresses with haircuts, perms, and highlights. Today, she wields her shears inside a red-brick building emblazoned with its name—Ce'Bon Salon—in white cursive letters. When she isn't sculpting 'dos, Sue conditions careworn locks, shapes delicate eyebrows, and blazes trails through thick uncharted beards.
Aesthetician Stephanie Kass-Theeke beautifies skin with custom and vitamin-infused facials and microdermabrasions. Elements Salon & Spa also offers a wide array of beautifying and pampering services aside from skincare. From therapeutic massages and spa pedicures to makeup applications, the team of beauty specialists can cater to pretty much any beauty or well-being needs. Salon services, including cuts, color, and keratin treatments, are also available.
