Girls Night: The Musical follows five friends as they celebrate their past, present, and future through a raunchy night of comedic karaoke. The small size of the 408-seat theater guarantees an unobstructed view and ample acoustics as actresses belt out classics such as "I Will Survive," "It's Raining Men," and "We Are Family," evoking nostalgia for decades past better than a ghost eating apple pie. Since the play possesses content similar to an R-rated movie, theatergoers are encouraged to bring guests age 18 or older or a handheld naughty-word filter.
The Clinton Country Club, which has been in operation near Truman Lake for more than 100 years, exudes a welcoming environment that encompasses a sprawling 18-hole golf course, driving range, and putting area. The cart rental enables golfers to easily whisk across the course’s verdant green turf and terrain before heading to the full-service bar, dining room, or pro shop, all of which overlook the course. Soda ($1.50), hot dogs ($2.50), beer ($2.50), and more are all available from the club’s eatery.
At the Zombie Rampage 5K Run, the horror and excitement of the mythicized zombie apocalypse comes to life at Stephens Lake Park. Runners choose whether they want to be zombies or humans. Humans get a head start and attempt to outrun zombies looking to "infect" (tag) them and take their human cards. In turn, zombies must safeguard their health flags, which can be stolen by humans or other zombies. At the end of the race, the fastest human wins, and the zombie who infected the most humans while maintaining at least one health flag wins. Throughout the course, runners can avail themselves of first-aid stations or hydration stations as the need arises. All proceeds from the Zombie Rampage 5K Run benefit the University of Missouri Rowing Club.
At Columbia Speed Academy, experienced and certified trainers are a resource young athletes use to enhance their performance with laser-focused custom training and nutrition programs. The trainers tap their experience earned in college-level track and field or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to develop training methods that combine plyometrics and treadmills to improve clients' speed while preventing injury. The academy's facility boasts equipment including hurdles, treadmills, Jacob?s Ladders, and plyometric boxes to use during intensive training sessions. Athletes can further augment the results of their programs with Nutrition 101 classes and individually composed theme songs.
The Cooper’s Oak Winery is located on the premises of A&K Cooperage, proprietor of fine American and French oak barrels. This isn't a coincidence—the winery uses those high-quality barrels as vessels for its blended and specialty varietals. The barrels' contribution is clear in sips of the Toasted Oak, a cabernet sauvignon mixed with merlot and aged in heavily toasted oak, and the Triple Oak Bliss, a dark and bold red blend of three domestic grapes, aged in American oak emblazoned with tasty smiley faces. Cooper’s also crafts sweet blush wine, a vidal ice wine, and a French hybrid vignoles.
