There's a Zumba class for every type of student at Savage Fit LLC. Beginners start with Zumba Gold classes, learning four basic rhythms ranging from merengue to reggaeton, and following along as an instructor sets them to international beats. Next, they expand upon this foundational repertoire with moves such as samba, belly dance, and flamenco, working their way up to follow simple choreography or incorporate strength-training with maraca-shaped hand weights.
While AquaZumba classes turn the dance party into a pool party, Zumbatonic turns it into a kids party where pint-sized students can shimmy and shake with friends of their own age and ability. When Savage Fit Studio isn't teaching Zumba, they also offer Pilates and yoga classes, as well as a girls' night out event on the last Friday of each month.
Jazzercise is 60 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching that incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training with handheld weights. Dancing with the Stars multiple-champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of Jazzercise's improvisational workouts, though luckily you won't need her dance moves to get the most out of your class. If you're prone to first-class jitters, though, you can review the basic moves online before you go. Expect to burn off up to 500 calories with each go-round.
With freshly painted walls, the new The Happy Yogi is ready to welcome yoga amateurs and pros of any age. Here, experienced yoga instructors guide students through standing and seated poses designed to increase their flexibility, strengthen their mind-body connection, and boost well-being. In addition to classic vinyasa flow, hatha yoga, and hot yoga classes, they hold specialty classes that focus on specific demographics, including adults over 50, teenagers, and kids. They even work with expectant mothers during prenatal yoga classes, incorporating a series of modified yoga poses that help alleviate pregnancy-related aches, pains, and frustrations.
The Learn to Run Clinic helps distance runners learn proper technique so they can cut down on their race times, avoid injuries, and reduce long-term bodily wear and tear. A certified CrossFit Endurance coach oversees the session's drills and runs, coaching beginner and intermediate runners in preparation for an upcoming race or a lifetime in the sport. The syllabus also incorporates information on proper fueling and hydration, as well as recommendations for shoes and running attire.
