In 1995, Jeff Popkin was tired of hearing about parties only after they happened. Being a fan of parties, he did not appreciate this, and he imagined other people shared his sentiment. He started Boston Event Guide, a website that aggregates upcoming bashes in one place including some of the top booze cruises in Boston such as the Summer Party Cruise. In addition to posting events such as fashion shows at the Liberty Hotel, party cruises, and beer-and-chocolate tours, he and his staff send out a weekly newsletter that highlights top events that are ideal for company outings, birthdays, or group parties.
Originally opened in 1927, the Genesee Theatre slowly deteriorated over the course of the century until its closing in 1989. But starting in 2001, a $23 million cash infusion from the city allowed 120 volunteers to restore the theater to its Gilded Age splendor. Its elegant trappings include authentic wall fabrics, an exact replica of the original marquee, and a 2,200-pound chandelier that gently spotlights the grand lobby and every audience member passing underneath to show how everyone is a star if you really think about it.
Beantown Pub Crawls commemorates the joy of the holidays with a few good beers and some celebratory strolls through Boston. Bringing revelers to some of the city's most beloved watering holes, Beantown's organized crawls ensure that holidays?including Valentine's Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Christmas?can be celebrated on more than just one day. The Ugly Sweater Crawl encourages participants to don tastelessly festive threads as they help raise money for Toys for Tots, and previous events, such as Halloween's Costume Crawl, have involved significantly more outlandish duds.
For more than 15 years, the Northampton International Film Festival has been inspiring artistic development in the world's filmmakers, celebrating the art of cinema and the introspection it elicits from audiences. Each year, a panel of industry experts carefully vets thousands of submissions from around the globe, selecting only those films that communicate diverse cultural perspectives through varying visual styles and narrative modes. These documentaries, feature-length films, and shorts seek to build a bridge between seemingly disparate backgrounds and traditions with thought-provoking commentary and enriching stories. This global festival ends with a rousing awards ceremony to honor standout films and snub the assistant key grip's contributions once again, for what must seem like the 8,000,000th time in history.

The Great Bull Run brings the thrill of Pamplona's historic event to cities across the United States. Modeled after the Running of the Bulls, this one-day event enables participants to race live bulls, keeping one step ahead of the charging animals to finally prove that toes are better for running than hooves. While the historic Pamplona event has had few serious injuries in its 102 years of existence, The Great Bull Run staff takes even more precautions to ensure runners stay smiling from beginning to end. Additionally, the bulls are given the full respect they deserve, and are not antagonized or harmed before, during, or after the run.
Following the race, runners and newcomers can gather together for a good old-fashioned food fight. Tomato Royale arms entrants with juicy fruit that they can fling at each other. Additional post-run activities include an after-party, live entertainment, and games as well as food and beverages.
