With the opening of its first store in 1989, Eastern Boarder established a foothold in the then nascent extreme-sports category and has since ridden the explosion in popularity of skating, snowboarding, and BMX. Today, at each of its five stores, devotees of these now mainstream sports can find gear, accessories, and apparel by manufacturers such as Volcom, Neff, and Nike. In recognition of its staying power, Snowboarder magazine named Eastern Boarder the Coolest Shop in the Country in spite of several sabotage attempts on its thermostat. The shop also sponsors a pro snowboarding team that’s been acclaimed by the likes of ESPN Action Sports.

At Weston EyeCare, opticians fill fashionable frames with lenses prescribed by the boutique's in-house optometrist, following comprehensive eye exams that can be scheduled online for customer convenience. During visits, opticians provide one-on-one assistance and assess patients' eyes with an array of frames and digital-lens technology. Clients may browse Weston EyeCare optical collections that feature frames by Kate Spade, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, and Silhouette, to name a few. While styles are designed to suit a range of budgets, they always sport the latest lens technology, whether they are peering through basic models, handmade luxury eyewear, sportswear, or children's frames.

Since graduating from the New England College of Optometry in 1981, Dr. Hendrick Krosschell's thirst for knowledge hasn't diminished. He has completed hundreds of hours of training in everything from clinical eye care to the treatment of ocular conditions. The training pays off at his eponymous clinic, where he and his staff schedule eye exams, contact-lens fittings, and other optometry services. Krosschell's office also has a large selection of frames from designers such as Kate Spade, Ted Baker, and Ralph Lauren.

“It’s the challenging fits—either spectacles or contact lenses—that drive me," writes optician John Parrelli on his website. Since opening his first shop in 1978, these challenges have included cataract sufferers who were left without binocular vision following surgery. Parrelli and his team of lens specialists experimented with different materials, designs, and indices of refraction until they could fabricate a lens thin and strong enough to restore these patients’ sight.

Today, Parrelli Optical has grown to six locations, where optometrists inspect patients' vision with a comprehensive, 15-point eye-health assessment and complete visual analysis. Through digital corneal photography, they're able to diagnose corneal disease and increase the precision and comfort of prescriptions. The locations also host a wide selection of designer frames, ideal for experimenting with different styles, such as wearing 20 frames at once.
