Led by two ACE-certified personal trainers, Carolina Adventure Boot Camp takes men and women of any age or fitness level through regularly scheduled 60-minute outdoor cardio romps. Groups are limited in size for each session, helping students get to know one another and allowing trainers to personalize each exercise to individual abilities. The bare-bones structure of each class builds routines around body-weight resistance, running, yoga, and obstacle courses, requiring each participant to bring only water, a yoga mat, and a pair of dumbbells. When not providing positive reinforcement, instructors counsel students on nutritional matters, helping craft nutritious meal plans and sharing healthful cookie recipes that replace chocolate chips with Flintstones vitamins.
Since 1997, Records Reduction has helped homes and offices go paperless with storage services and confidential scanning of documents and images. The company digitizes a variety of file types, including slides, which saves clients the hassle of devouring photos to commit them to memory and makes it possible to upload them to social-media sites, such as Facebook and Flickr. To ward off identity thieves, Records Reduction can shred CDs, x-rays, and documents containing addresses, social security numbers, and superhero aliases. The facility is monitored 24/7, and features an alarm system to prevent stored goods from escaping.
At Music Matters, each instructor is a highly qualified, professional musician. In fully equipped studios and practice rooms, they lead private lessons with custom instruction for more than 15 instruments, including the piano, guitar, drums, voice, violin, and most orchestral instruments. They also inspire the next generation of modern Mozarts with special programs such as the Rock Band 101 class, which teaches students how to rehearse with a band and play with other students. Rock Band 101 includes hands-on experience playing songs from each decade beginning with the 1960s, and teachers also encourage students to write and develop their own songs.
The teachers at Marlyvia Academy of All Stars Today, Inc. know that learning happens both inside and outside of the classroom. That's why their tutoring programs cover both spheres. Within the realm of academia, they tutor kids in K–12 or help them get ready for the SAT or ACT using techniques custom-tailored to each student's learning style. In the extracurricular enrichment courses, they focus on the nuances of socializing, from etiquette and manners to resisting peer pressure.
Giving kids the chance to stretch their creative wings is just one aspect of the philosophy at Fun Arts Afterschool. Workshops suited for kids aged 9-14 include the introductory Acting For Film, where students learn Method Acting and the Meisner Technique—which uses a series of exercises designed to help students improvise. Likewise, teens in the DVD film class acquire knowledge to storyboard, write scrips, and even act on film.
At Howren Piano Studio, Miss Howren teaches piano in a supportive environment that favors group lessons and one-on-one instruction alike. Group lessons let pupils learn together by taking turns playing songs. This allows for more camaraderie and multiple perspectives on piano techniques. Private lessons are also very effective and available, and Miss Howren encourages parents to be present for kids’ lessons so that they can assist during practice at home. Both private and group lessons are available for all ages.
