To the uninitiated, it may look like chaos, but CrossFit's system has a method to its madness. That method is based on constantly varied functional movements performed at a high intensity.
Perfecting and strengthening movements such as jumping, squatting, bending, and lifting translates to everyday activities as well as all sports and work activities. That's a big reason the gym's trained instructors choose it as their primary fitness system, and the fact that it's scalable to all fitness levels and ages is another. They're also able to change the workouts each day, which keeps the boredom of repetition away. Finally, their group sessions foster team spirit, which keeps inspiration high and motivation at the ready.
Every day at CrossFit Align is different. Ever-changing workouts of the day, which instructors design to create a challenging yet accessible program for all levels and fitness goals?from general fitness to sports to survival. Monday?Saturday, instructors and exercisers gather to do pull-ups, stretches, weightlifting circuits, and other exercises. In addition to its eponymous fitness classes, CrossFit Align also hosts massage sessions with its two on-site massage therapists. These experts employ hot stone, aromatherapy, and other modalities to address issues such as stress, pain, and sailor knots lodged into the spine.
CrossFit Little Rock?s certified trainers have a 5,000-square-foot facility at their disposal, but they don't try to fill all that space with exercise machines that focus on one muscle at a time. Instead, they lead beginner and advanced classes that emphasize functional fitness, using all that space for exercises inspired by gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, and rowing. The specific workouts change all the time, but they may include everything from swinging kettlebells to climbing ropes.
Brandon Mazander learned in the military a myriad of ways to keep fit, while Celestee Wilson acquired expert knowledge through her years as a college volleyball player and her masters degree in kinesiology. Together they co-own BAM CrossFit and lead training sessions that focus on high-intensity exercises using functional movements such as lifting, pulling, and waving away pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving. Mixing up routines to keep disinterest at bay, their classes work out all muscle groups by executing diverse exercises such as gymnastics, weightlifting, and rope climbing.
