Sharing a roof with its parent organization, The Salvation Army, the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center's fine arts and education program nurtures the dramatic arts with a focus on bringing family-friendly productions to the stage of its Kroc Theater. Big River takes a musical theater approach to Mark Twain's beloved The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and the community-minded cast and crew works hard on their year’s biggest production, giving Mr. Clements his due by putting on a show as thrilling as hitching a ride on the beard of a passing giant. Accompanied by the original award-winning score by Roger Miller, the all-local troupe passionately enacts lively Huck Finn and his valiant effort to help his friend Jim, a slave, reach independence at the mouth of the Ohio River.

You can tantalize taste buds and taste buddies alike with the 2009 Dragonfly Rising viognier ($22), spoil yourself with the Song of an Uncaged Bird 2006 syrah ($30), or capture the flavors and smells of a misty Oregon autumn with the Rain on Leaves pinot noir 2007 ($32).
Torii Mor Winery employs sustainable farming and winemaking practices under the guidance of veteran winemaker Jacques Tardy to produce high-quality, complex wines. With this deal, fermentation fans will taste at least six wines in a Japanese-influenced tasting room set beside a 39-year-old vineyard. While Torii Mor specializes in richly aromatic pinot noirs, it also bottles berry-rich syrah, apple-infused pinot blanc and floral-tinged viognier ($22–$50 per bottle). Hailing from France's Burgundy region, where natives drink, bottle, and bathe in wine, Jacques Tardy has a degree in viticulture and enology and has been making palate-pleasing vino since 1976. In addition, Torii Mor has earned both 2010 LEED-GOLD certification and LIVE certification for its green practices, which include the use of low-emitting paints and gravity-flow winemaking.
As a native Norwegian, Dag Johan Sundby traces his roots back to the Vikings, who sailed the North Atlantic as conquerors more than a 1,000 years ago. But, as a pursuer of the perfect Oregonian Pinot Noir, he looks back to times even more ancient, when the formation of sedimentary rock resulted in soil full of nutrients. This geological bounty gives rise to Johan Vineyards' yearly harvests of Burgundian grapes, bolstered by the ocean breeze, cool climes, and bedtime stories about a raisin who got his mojo back. The pressings of these fruits go into French Oak casks, aging for at least a year and a half before going into their final bottle. Inside the winery's tasting room, guests are surrounded by these casks as they sip on freshly uncorked vintages.
