That ?et cetera? in the name of Image Arts Etc. encompasses a lot. Here, staffers help clients preserve their visual memories in a host of ways, from snapping photos on-location and in the studio, to furnishing frames for cherished images. But the services don?t end there. On-staff technicians also transfer photos and video from older formats to new ones, and they can use restoration, graphic design, and multimedia editing skills to polish existing pictures and films. Some customers even elect to rent the entire Image Arts studio, where a selection of backdrops, props, and basic photography gear await for amateur photographers who want to orchestrate their own shoot. Customers can elect to bring in their own props for use in the photo studio, where green screen photography and videos are also available.
Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Portrait Innovations operates digital-imaging studios throughout the country that use advanced technology to capture and print family memories in about 60–90 minutes. Before the shoot, adults can browse the open studio space's selection of different poses, props, and backgrounds while children entertain themselves at a Lego table and beg invisible friends to make an appearance for the camera. Photographers use handheld digital cameras to memorialize smiles during the session, utilizing the studio's lighting system to enhance candid images. Patrons then view and select their favorite poses, adding special effects to design and create personalized gifts such as portrait books, calendars, canvases, and mugs. The team prints the high-resolution portraits on archival-quality paper with a high-capacity Fujifilm Digital Frontier system, and ships specialty gift items to clients' homes for free.
Husband-and-wife duo Mike and Barb capture special moments from behind the lens. They travel to brides and grooms on their wedding day, and set up photo shoots for families and graduating seniors. An outdoor studio in Waterford provides 3 acres of breathtaking backgrounds with fields, trees, and ponds of liquid gold.
Housed within an art gallery and wine shop, the Urraro Gallery outfits artwork and keepsakes with close-fitting protective frames. Staff lead patrons through a smorgasbord of wood and metal frames to find the border best suited to protect a portrait from harsh sunlight or the oily fingerprints of a child robot. A plethora of mats in various colors, textures, and shapes can accent prints, and shadow boxes house treasures such as a collection of medals, a lock of football-mascot fur, or a hobo's shadow. The average cost for a custom frame ranges $50–$150, and frame sizes range from quaint 4"x6" memory-keepers to 40"x60" frames large enough to hold a life-size print of a miniature pony. After framers finish their work on-site, clients can pick up the finished piece in the store or have it shipped home.
