Chicken Holiday Restaurant’s chefs pressure cook chicken and flame broil ribs, among many other meats and meats of the sea that they prepare. With carry-out and delivery options available, they fill orders for holiday buffets complete with 8 pounds of ribs, chicken, jumbo shrimp, and sides, along with stocking tubs of chicken with up to 100 pieces. The staff also heats up the kitchen by roasting old yearbooks on the oven burners or cooking flounder filet or scallop dinners with french fries and sides of fried okra and apple fritters. Two flat-screen TVs—55 inches and 60 inches—broadcast NFL games to complete the ambiance.
A gathering place for both children and parents, Cartwheels & Coffee sows the seeds of neighborhood camaraderie with its multi-purpose recreational facility. Inside, an enclosed play area entertains children aged six and under with interactive fun, and a separate section keeps babies captivated with age-appropriate toys. Meanwhile, parents can kick back alongside each other in the Wi-Fi-equipped cafe and sip on locally roasted cups of coffee or recharge with other items from the menu. Special events throughout the week provide a change of pace to normal activities, including singing sessions on Mondays and dance classes on Wednesdays.

GlobeHopper Coffeehouse & Lounge offers a space where the community can congregate to exchange culture and sip strong espresso. The menu offers a myriad of both caffeinated concoctions and liquored libations, starting with its cup of coffee ($1.65), solely served in the superior French-press technique. Choose between piping hot or Antarctica cold espresso selections, including the café latte ($3.35) and the tiramisu icespresso ($3.50). Complement coffee with 15 of GlobeHopper's signature poffertjes ($3.95), a homemade miniature Dutch pastry that's dusted with powdered sugar, bedecked in a butter curl, and served hot from the oven. Dionysuses can unwind after a long day of solving Eleusinian Mysteries with a glass of red or white wine ($6+) or a selection from GlobeHopper's assortment of international beers ($3+). The crème-de-menthe-infused Hot Schnocolate ($7) soothes sore throats, whereas the Caramel Scotch Cappuccino ($7.50) perks taste buds up in their tongue seats. A bevy of breakfast and lunchtime bites are also available, with muffins, flatbread sandwiches, and wraps making culinary cameos.
Rostov's has been giving Virginians their morning jolt since 1979, roasting all its coffee beans fresh daily using its very own Jabez-Burns 1940s roaster. Rostov's usually has around 50 breeds of buzz-beans in stock for your caffeinated consumption, such as the rich mocha java ($10.25/lb.), the flavorful Seville orange ($11.25/lb.), and the intensely robust French roast ($11/lb.). Prices fluctuate slightly based on current market values. Rostov's can also fill your mug with about 60 strains of loose-leaf tea, which cover a rainbow of greens, blacks, whites, reds, and herbals. Traditional English breakfast tea ($9/lb.) begs to be served with crumpets and dry wit, and shares shelf space with more exotic concoctions, such as a green tea with roasted rice. The decaf Richmond blend features black tea ($14/lb.), blending cinnamon, orange peel, and cloves into a one-way ticket to total bliss, minus the grueling layover in Insomnia.
Stir Crazy Cafe outfits its quaint dining room and sun-soaked patio with all the accouterments for a cozy afternoon. Baristas brew steaming cups of Rostov's coffee and Black Hand espresso drinks. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, cooks fill the shop with the scent of pastries, wraps, and sandwiches, all of which pair nicely with the selection of wines and beers. Giving guests all the incentive they need to leave room for dessert, they also serve up a collection of fresh pies.
