The Child Crisis Center (CCC) provides educational and developmental resources for families, operates the Arizona Adoption & Foster Care program, and runs an emergency shelter for abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Since it's inception in 1981, the CCC has housed more than 12,700 children from infancy to age 11. The shelter now contains 42 beds and houses 300–350 children every year. Young guests get a warm place to sleep, meals and snacks, and meaningful recreational and educational activities, including regular homework time and opportunities to play outdoors.
The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.
As if running through over 3 miles of mud and obstacles wasn't enough, Run to Death elevates heartbeats and anxiety levels by releasing gruesome monsters onto its course. Participants run along collecting lifeline ribbons placed at various checkpoints along the course. Then they must protect these lifelines from the claws of desirous demons, monsters, and other creepily costumed volunteers—all while dragging themselves through pits of mud and tumbling over hurdles. The event recognizes "survivors" as those racers who finish with at least one lifeline intact, while those who finish without a lifeline will have run themselves to death but on the bright side, they'll be able to accurately describe the afterlife to whoever will listen.
Flanigan Entertainment aims quench beer enthusiasts' thirst while supporting worthy causes. Their Beat the Heat WinterFest brings a much-needed frosty edge to summertime in Arizona, and the Spring Swing Beer Bash kicks off baseball season with cold glassfuls of hoppy, wheaty, and malty goodness. The festivals showcase local and internationally renowned breweries, from Phoenix's own Old World Brewery and Phoenix Ale Brewery to Stella Artois and Hoegaarden Brewery. Along with Restaurant Promotions they have also created The Local Yokel Festivals to celebrate local Arizona wineries, breweries, and art-and-craft vendors. Their past events, which have benefitted children's charities, have been held at the 30,000-square-foot Arizona Event Center and The Venue Scottsdale, whose stone walls, chandeliers, and retractable roof resemble the medieval football stadiums of yore.
