The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.

Watching tons of horror movies isn't a waste of time—it's prep for Escape the Chase, a mud-soaked, obstacle-studded 5K whose participants live by zombie apocalypse rules: run as fast as you can, don't worry about getting dirty, and hold onto your brains.

In this case, though, brains are "lifelines," or symbolic ribbons. Racers have to finish with at least one to be considered apocalypse survivors, and at least nine to be legally considered a cat. Lifelines are heavily contested, though; roaring, zombie-costumed opponents constantly try to snag them as racers clamber over obstacles, slog through mud, and occasionally even swim out of harm's way.

When a soldier is injured so severely that they need to return home, Arizona Heroes to Hometowns steps in with the emotional, physical, and financial support necessary for them to re-acclimate to civilian life. Members of the organization help wounded military personnel in a variety of ways, such as assisting them with bill payments, driving them to doctor’s appointments, arranging job interviews, and gathering much-needed community support.

At Guru Momma's studio, yogis strip away the stumbling blocks that traditionally stand between busy moms and their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Onsite childcare services crowdsource temporary mothering duties to a caring team of moms from the Guru Momma community. For kids who would rather participate than sit on the sidelines, kids yoga and mommy-and-me classes give tykes the chance to strengthen their growing bodies and earn hours towards earning their flying-yoga-mat permits. While the power and restorative yoga classes offload a multitude of benefits for practitioners, including better flexibility, balance, and mental clarity, Guru Momma also offers other holistic healing services such as massage, reiki, and nutrition consultations.

The kids are lurking around each turn of the 5-kilometer course, their hands full of Super Soakers, water balloons, and other aquatic artillery. A group of runners comes into view, and suddenly it's like the zipper broke on a rain cloud. The children shower the race participants and help them fight the swelter of the Arizona heat. Those who don’t wish to be “hit” wear bright red and wave a white flag in surrender. The kids—who have been instructed to only aim for the neck down—let these ones pass sans moisture.

The Splash Mob 5K puts this cool, watery twist on the standard race. Not only does it keep participants cool and kids smiling, but it also raises funds for a good cause: the Children First Academy. This Title I school educates approximately 300 students, 68% of which are homeless and 100% of which qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
