Las Vegas Running Tours lets exercisers ditch their treadmills and escape the gym completely with running and walking adventures around Sin City. Founded by avid runner and tour guide Jimmy Edwards, the company offers a way to explore that's more interesting than riding in a car or a stranger?s baby stroller. Participants can get a taste of the original Las Vegas while pounding the pavement during the downtown tour, which features the famed Fremont Street, Wedding Chapel Row, and Neon Boneyard. Or, they can break away from busy streets while weaving atop the shaded trails of Mt. Charleston. In addition to its tours, Las Vegas Running Tours also offers year-round training for recreational runners, walkers, and athletes.
BADASS Dash?s organizers live in a world of imagination. Where others see cargo nets, they see giant webs to be scaled. School buses become climbing walls and bales of hay turn into tunnels filled with grass and mud. In city after city, they place 30+ of these obstacles along a 7-kilometer course, and invite individuals and teams to compete against each other in elite matches, or beat their personal best in recreational races. Afterward, the organizers throw a celebratory bash filled with bonfires, food, and prizes for top finishers. A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the charity Autism Speaks.
When they weren't busy winning Ironman triathlons and coaching athletes to national success, the trainers behind Multisports.com spent their time like many Americans: hanging out with their favorite pooches. Eventually, the team found a way to incorporate their four-legged friends into their runs, as well. Thus, the Petco 5K9 Walk Run was born. Now a national series of 1-mile and 5K runs, the dog-friendly events promote outdoor activity while raising funds for local animal welfare groups with the help of the Petco Foundation. In addition to hitting the course with their pets, participants can also discover the latest exercise innovations during a visit to the event's health and fitness expo.
