When it comes to getting fit, it’s no longer about the big, anonymous box gym. These days, the latest fitness craze is one-on-one training, where the goal is to maximize the workouts and help participants achieve their fitness goals faster. Peak Physique & Performance provides exactly that in their personal training space and in their group training studio – just don’t expect to come and lounge around. There are no chairs inside Peak Physique, just two stools and a lot of gear to train with. The small, certified staff use various cardio and strength training machines, free weights, resistance tubes and medicine balls to craft body parts to their maximum potential. Other than that, there’s a small changing room and showers, and a bunch of dedicated fitness folks inside, sweating and working hard.
At Jewelry Creations Workshop, carrying a torch for someone doesn't mean you have a crush on them—it means you're actually holding a torch for them while they tie their hair back and prepare to solder pieces of hand-made jewelry together. Named Best Jewelry Maker by the Miami New Times in 2013, the workshop team teaches wide-ranging techniques, from the aforementioned soldering to fold forming and enameling. Owner Steven Brownlee, who leads many of the sessions, has more than a decade of experience in the craft and uses it to teach cutting-edge techniques as well as the basics. In his introductory workshop, students get more than three hours to practice the fundamentals and craft a simple silver ring ideal for spontaneously proposing to a classmate.
Although many language schools use the technique of total immersion by having teachers speak exclusively to students in the target tongue, that immersion often disintegrates outside of the classroom. But not at Ceves Spanish School. The educational hub is located in the middle of Miami, a city known for its Latin American cultural heritage. Following any Spanish-language class, students can practice their listening and speaking skills throughout the community at its endless restaurants, nightclubs, and beaches.
Kydoo Kids Club & Cafe emphasizes the doo in their name, setting children loose into a world where they can do all of the activities they love. Inside the color-splashed facility, dedicated play areas house a variety of fun, multi-sensory experiences. In the central play area, explorers jump, climb, and slide through play structures, and in the invention station, young Thomas Edisons use Legos and blocks to build towers or a new Mars Rover. Sometimes, these areas host classes, too, such as in art, singing, science, cooking, and dance. Parents can join the fun, or kick back in the cafe with fresh-brewed cups of coffee and gourmet bites.
