Named after the Greek word for me, Emena Spa centers on the individual through a bevy of complimentary amenities, soothing d?cor, and pampering services. The doting staff stays true to the spa's namesake, ushering clients into one of six private treatment rooms for a revitalizing microdermabrasion or detoxifying peel accented by organic products, cutting-edge technology, and aesthetic know-how. Stylists and nail technicians pore over features with attentive services that elicit youthful beauty, and the facility's Power Plate vibrating platform gives clients the opportunity to tone their bodies without long hours at the gym or smudge-prone bicep marker drawings. For full-body enhancement, massage therapists unearth tension through four modalities as licensed physician's assistants target unwanted hair and skin blemishes with GentleMax laser technology.

What are some of your most popular services? What do you think clients love them so much?
Clients love our deep-tissue massage because we go deeper than most therapists, we include stretching, and we guide you, in a tranquil voice, to take long deep breaths and use the incredible power of your mind to relax your body. In this way, the session is like a guided-meditation [session] in which you become a more active participant in your own therapy. Some clients who have suffered for years with chronic pain are amazed by the relief they get from neuromuscular realignment, which analyzes your musculoskeletal imbalances and stretches the core muscles that are pulling your body out of alignment.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We are literally a mom-and-pop operation. [Roxanne and I have been] married for 17 years and are both licensed massage therapists. Roxanne is also a licensed skincare specialist, and [I am] also a chi gong instructor.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
It started back in 2006, when [I] got laid off from [my] cubicle job and decided to get into a manual-labor career. Having always had a natural talent for massage, [I] returned to school and became licensed, initially in Dallas, Texas. Roxanne, after years of lessons from [me], also went to massage school and became licensed in 2008. [We] moved to Miami and got Florida licenses in 2011.
At the modern and environmentally friendly Petit Spa, highly trained aestheticians and med-spa experts work to improve dry, oily, and acne-prone skin during chemical peels, microdermabrasion treatments, and specialty facials. They use the hypoallergenic Babor skincare line from Germany and the botanical-laden Aquaroma line when tending to mugs, and they use an organic spray-tan solution with green-tea extract and anti-oxidants to bronze limbs.
To further rejuvenate bodies, they rely on toxin-flushing hydrotherapy treatments and tension-melting massages in Swedish, aromatherapy, or deep-tissue modalities. They even have a localized deep-tissue massage, which concentrates exclusively on the neck, back, and shoulders, leaving clients as stress-free as Christmas shopping in April.
Bodycaretreatments is a salon, a spa, and a holistic health practice. Stylists and nail technicians ensure hair and digits look their best, while makeup artists tint brows and perm lashes. Aestheticians, meanwhile, perform body scrubs, facials, and waxing treatments. The staff also includes ear-candling pros and reiki masters, who help minds and spirits glow as brightly as complexions.
Epidermal specialists at Med Aesthetics Miami help customers attain internal wellness and external beauty with a variety of cosmetic procedures. The staff caters to individual whims during laser hair-removal sessions, which reveal the smooth skin hiding beneath, and facial treatments that harness a selection of products. Beneath shelves brimming with elixirs, the crew helps patrons acquire their desired looks, just in time for a fancy event such as a wedding or building demolition.
Synergy Wellness Clinic founder Doctor of Chiropractic Gustavo Marshall’s experiences with traditional organized medicine left him disappointed, noting that it felt like “looking at the trees, rather than the whole forest.” So the licensed chiropractor assembled a team of heathcare practitioners who could work together to address the whole person, rather than just his or her symptoms. “Here, we’re always looking at the body from the standpoint of the whole forest,” he says.
When Dr. Marshall meets with new patients, he considers a variety of factors, such as their living environment, sleep habits, nutrition, and frequency of hot-coal walks. Then, he may pair his own chiropractic techniques with massage therapy or nutritional counseling. And if his own clinic doesn’t have the resources his patients need, he’s happy to recommend additional practitioners to help them on their path to wellness.
Dr. Marshall also recognizes that, regardless of his client’s ailment, stress can be a huge barrier to recovery. So he strives to establish his clinic as a refuge from the urban bustle. During massages, for instance, therapists ensconce patients in private treatment rooms equipped with flickering candles, memory-foam tables, and soothing music. They also draw upon aromatherapy to deepen relaxation.
