At North East Adventure Paintball, adventure is a family affair. Charles Narvel, his son Austin, and his nephew Shawn opened the 6.5-acre facility in May 2008 with the goal of providing a safe venue for exhilarating rounds of paintball. Before the grand opening, the trio parceled the acres into six themed fields and dotted each landscape with matching obstacles: Old Castle field has a stone fortress with multiple levels and a tower; Civil War field features simulated headquarters and trenches.
Today, players 9 or older sprint across the six fields in games of elimination, respawn, Alamo, sharpshooter, and capture the flag. Eco-friendly, oil-free paint splatters against protective gear as players duck behind shelters or leap over barriers. Lower-speed paintball guns are available for younger players whose reflexes have not evolved into cats just yet. After an adrenaline-fueled battle, players can eat food they've brought with them at shaded, sheltered picnic tables, or purchase food and drink at the concession stand. Party packages include a referee.

Right where the mouth of the Susquehanna River yawns into Chesapeake Bay lies the protected, uncrowded waters of Havre de Grace harbor. BaySail's instructors take advantage of these opportune conditions, operating a sailing school that's accredited by the American Sailing Association. Upholding training standards that have won the ASA's School of the Year award, they lead sailing classes ranging from introductory lessons to certification courses in coastal cruising and bareboat chartering. In addition to lending its fleet for lessons, BaySail's team rents its vessels?from a Capri 22 to a Hunter 460?to members. The sailboats also glide out on chartered cruises, taking guests to nearby destinations such as Inner Harbor and the Sassafras River, where sassafras trees come to spawn every winter.

His staff of bike enthusiasts—which includes his brother and parents— helps customers navigate the store’s selection of Specialized, Felt, and Colnago bikes. They’ll happily answer questions about the shop’s selection of pedals, wheels, and tools, and offer sage advice on matching apparel with riding habits and weather. Customers can bring their own bikes in for a tune-up from an expert technician or utilize the Body Geometry Fit technique to adjust a bike to their exact physical specifications.
Bowlerama helps pinbusters roll out barrels of good times from the confines of its timeless alley digs.
