No men, no makeup, no mirrors. It's a philosophy that?s helped members of the Curves community since 1992. Part fitness center, part community center, Curves is a women?s only club that takes a streamlined approach to health, fitness, and weight loss. Curves has teamed up with health and fitness coach Jillian Michaels to develop full-body, 30-minute workouts that kick-start weight loss, combining strength training, cardio, and stretching into sessions that torch fat, build strength, boost intensity, and prevent plateaus. These workouts are enhanced further by the Curves Complete Program, available for an extra fee, which is rooted in Curves' method for effective weight loss in that it supplements efforts at the gym with personalized meal plans and weekly one-on-one meetings with a certified Curves coach.
The Odessa Jackalopes have provided live hockey, family-friendly prices, and full-contact High Tea since 1997 at the modern-styled Ector County Coliseum. From the Jackalopes' home base, also known as the “Jack Shack,” spectators get the opportunity to see professional hockey players on their way up from the AA CHL to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers or the NHL’s New York Islanders. Mascot Slap Jack is also present to entertain the younger fans and infuriate taxonomic biologists with his rabbity antler-antics.
With a straightforward approach to fitness, Flex 24 grants health-minded Homo sapiens round-the-clock access to workout essentials. Guests can shore up physiques on a full range of brand-name weight equipment, including plate-loaded Hammer Strength and Cybex cable machines, along with 30,000 pounds of free weights. Each cardio unit features an individual LCD TV, allowing indoor runners to compare their form against slow-motion examples from the Six Million Dollar Man and stationary riders to envision their dream of cycling through local news stations. The club encourages self-directed exercise, but experienced staffers keep hours to share iron-pumping pointers and help set up personal-training sessions.
Fit Family's Zumba classes challenge students to a high-energy dance-based workout set to the up-tempo beats of Latin-inspired music. Instructors lead the class through a blend of salsa, merengue, and other dance moves, helping students remain unbored and melt away calories like an open flame melts away the chocolate exterior of a Charleston Chew. Like the FDA's recommended teeth-brushing schedule, classes are offered four times a week, Monday–Thursday evenings. After developing a thick sweat, guests can relax in the steam room, saunas, hot tubs, and hammocks made from strips of silk.
